Default Best Tire for the SC IMO

Mich. PS2 - hands down IMO. When I first puchased my car and took it for some agressive cornering I noticed two things right away: 1. runflat tires were total crap 2. lots of sway movement. I also have a SL 55 AMG as more my "going out" car and i'm sad to say when i jump in the SL I dislike driving the SC for several days.

Regardless Mich PS2's - get rid of your horrible runflats if you have not already.

The car comes with 245/40/18 - a bit narrow for a sports car. Has anyone gone with 255/40/18 on the stock rims?

you can put 255 no problem, the 8" wheel can take them

runflats are definitely horrible, i think most of us here agrees

I agree that the PS2's are better than the runflats. The handling and ride are excellent. However, there always seems to be a however, mine lasted 8,000 kilometers - that is fewer than 5,000 mile for you English measurement people.

As for driving habits, I do not burn rubber on starts or on cornering.

the ps2 is high performance tires and they have very short life that's for sure. that's why i decided against them cz' i drive my cars daily

ended up with the pilot sport a/s and i can't be happier

I have the Michelin Pilot sports A/S because it's better for the weather here, its rainy in the fall & winter.

I ran a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 2 i size 245/40-18 on my GS400 when I got new rims (18 X 8.5). The car is a daily driver. The ride and handling were terrific. I got about 25,000 miles on the tires before I had to replace them. I like to corner hard and drive too fast but most of my miles are on the freeway.
