Default Wheel and Tire Size suggestions for my 2000 GS300

I am debating between buying 20s vs 19s.

My situation: I drive about 30K miles/yr. Sometimes I am driving on dirt roads (if I have to visit a client's house in the mountains). I do not want to have to always watch out for potholes or bumps in the road. I used to have a lowered car and do not want a car that will limit me so much. However, I would still like to have either 19s or 20s staggered (ADR Sterlings) to make the car look better.

For my 20s setup, people have recommended me to get the following (please note that I will be using Tein CS coilovers):

20x8.5 5x114.3 38 wheels and 245/35/20 tires for the front

20x9.5 5x114.3 35 wheels and 275/30/20 tires for the rear

Here are my questions:

1. Will these rub? When I call the person that sells these wheels he said that the setup that was recommended to me will rub. I do not want this to happen even with 4 people in my car.

2. For my driving preference/habits, are these 20s a bad idea, and should I go down to 19s?

3. If I go to 19s, the only size available by ADR to fit our bolt pattern is: 19x8.5 5x114.3 38 . I don't know much about wheels but I am assuming I will not be able to use other bolt patterns, and thus will not be able to do a staggered setup. Is that correct?

Thank you.

did you pm him about this setup? for some reason i got sooo many pms these days about wheel fitment it's not funny, so sorry if i answered already.

in short, the front is no problem, the rear you might need to shave the fender lip a little bit to clear. the front you will rub when you lower the car a lot and hit big dip, it will rub the top, which is usual for 20s. it will rub slightly when you turn it all the way left/right too, but then you are going slow anyway

i drive my cars every day (gs400, sc430), but take about 15k miles a yr. and i never give a second thought about 20s. it's either that or no wheels imho . and if you go 19s, unless you get 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 (fat setup), you aren't really making it better, coz' 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 have the EXACT same sidewall as the 20" tires you stated

yes, only use the 114, i don't, and won't, recommend any other bolt patterns
