Default Rim sizing

I have a 17" wheel with 235 45ZR17 tires. I want to get a nice set of 18"'s or 19's, but what size tires do I need so that I will not slow my car down?

What are the widths you are planning with the 18s and 19s? x8, x8.5, x9, ...? Staggered or same size all around?

Well the stock is 8" ,is there a benefit of going wider or narrower?

wider you can put wider tires and more traction, and it looks better

1. To get a more aggressive look, meaning wheel face more flushed to the fender. Many even do staggered (even wider in the rear) since there is more room in the rear.
2. More rubber to the ground. This helps with handling and braking. In the rear, it helps transfer the power to the ground.

There are drawbacks, however, which can include more road feel/noise (depending if you like this or not), no tire rotation if staggered
