you need both the wheel and the car.... the outside is according to the wheel (most of the wheels are 73mm), and for the inside it's the car hub size. for lexus it's 60.1
It should also be pointed out that hubcentric rings are not really necessary with most wheels, hubs, and lug nuts as they are self centering. Without them you just need to be even more careful to get the wheel positioned properly on the studs and tighten the nuts gradually and uniformly. Once that's done, the hubcentric rings on most wheels are loose in their positions anyway -- the rings aren't carrying any weight.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am enclosing a photo of the back of my 17" BBS RX rim. I think it has a centering ring installed, but I'm not sure if this is the right one (I bought the rims used - MISTAKE- and aren't sure what kind of car they came off of), b/c I'm experiencing steering wheel vibration at speed. Can anybody tell by the photo? According to Tire Rack, all BBS fitment to Lexus requires centering rings, which cost $5 each. Actually, Tire Rack has good tech section on centering/hubcentric rings.
Good luck
