Default calling out wheel lock owners..need some help...

Well i did it. Made the mistake of losing my lock key and I'm not all about cutting them out and putting in new studs(last resort i guess) I know for a fact that they are mcgard locks, but when i had mcgard send me a replacement key it wasnt the right type. So i was wondering if anyone could see if they have the same lock as me/tell me a part number. i went up to toyota to have them try to fit one, but none worked. Thanks alot for any help.

Try Gator Grip. It's a socket with these little things inside to form a shape

Don't have a key, but what i use to do in my sheetmetal days in the Army, was take a Heavy Chisel head about the width of the lock. Get a 10lb hammer, put it at the face of the lock. 1 good wack for indentation. Resize up. And 2 good wacks to split the lock. Worked everytime. Also trying spraying Dust Off to chill the metal. Good Luck. Studs will not need to be cut.

Thumbs up

I happened to purchase my 01' GS with the wheel locks and without the key. Once I realized that I took it back to the dealer and had them remove/replace the locks free of charge.

Hope it helps!

What is the point of having wheel locks then...

That's why I took mine off.

George,

That looks really similar to the one I have, but I can't find a part number on it

I wish I knew about that Sears kit 2 months ago! The stealership charged me $100 bucks just to get it off and put on new ones.

Has anyone actually tried the sears kit? i work at autozone and tried 2 different kits(one for wheel locks and one for stripped lug nuts) and neither worked. thanks alot for the ideas so far. the problem is, the closest lexus dealer to me is over an hour, and thats quite the hike just for them to tell me a part number....id probably end up spendin 30 bucks on gas up and back anyway so maybe the kits worth a try.
