Default How to rotate staggard rim set-up

With different size rims and tires how do you guys rotate them? I heard of getting a directional tire and they wear evenly...without rotating? I'm just heated when it comes to rims because there are so many choices and sizes... Thanks

You don't rotate with a staggered setup (wider in rear). Thats the big 'con' to that setup.

Well, you can rotate them but it will make your car look really stupid

Isnt it possible to have the tire shop break the wheels down and swap the tires from side to side, with directional tires. You still keep the direction correct but the wear on the inside part of the tire now goes to the outside part on the opposite wheel, if that makes any sense?

Yup. No rotate, just flip.

yeah that's doable, but it's not recommended. especially tires like 19s or 20s, the sidewall is so thin, and you need a lot of forces and stretching to take it out / put it in. it's not good for the tires

Or you can flip them side to side. I think this is what Neo and I were referring to. That is what I will try to do.

and like i said there is a downside for that too. it's not recommended.

and if you have assymetric, it's pointless to flip as well

instead of spending the money to flip or whatever, just get some good alignments imho

Yeah, even though flipping the tires is an option, I have never done so.

How often do you guys get your tires rotated. Right now I have about 2 finger gap in front and I get really bad tire wear. I put it to this height because when I had less the tirewear was horrible. I have had my car aligned at a Tires Plus place and also a Toyota dealership and I still get pretty bad tire wear. I definately want to go lower but not sure if I want to change tires every 10k miles. I have an alignment done about every 2 months or so and may go to every month when the new wheels and tires get here. Any idea what is causing so much wear when Im not that low to begin with?

All you have to do then is drive backwards, eh?

What tires are you running, and what's the inflation pressure? Maybe that has something to do with it?

I have the Toyo T1S and I keep that at around 38 or 39 psi. I check this about once a week.

I flip my tires and do it at 5,000 miles. I have a friend that flips it every 10k miles but he has camber that is within spec. My camber is almost -4 degrees so it plays a major role.

If you run the tread to low before you flip it, you run the risk of popping your tire and also having no tread on the outside which makes it un pleasing to the eye.

After you flip it with tread still showing on the outside, it looks good and you can run the new side of tread till its just about time to replace the tire since it's on the inside.

On a side note, funning a stretched tire will wear off even quicker.
