Default 265/30ZR19 Rear Tires on GS400

Can I run a 265/30 sized tire on the rear without any rubbing issues? The offset on the wheels is 40mm. Thanks

You should be fine as far as rubbing goes. What is the width of the wheel? Why not 275/30?

The wheels are only 8.5 but they came with the 265 tires that are practically new so I might just use them for the summer and change back to a 245 next spring.

What kind of tires are these? With 8.5, I'd stay away from 275. 245s are optimal with 255s pushing it and 265s maxed.

what offset are you running?

on my lowenhart's the rear are 45 offset and I was running 19x9.5 w/ 275/30's in the rear w/ no rubbing unless I had rear passengers..... half finger tucked!

EDIT: oops I'm sorry I just saw you have 40 offset....

19x8.5 in the rear w/ 40 offset should be fine for 265/30/19.....

but yeah 265's is large for 8.5" wheel.

The tires are yokohama AVS, I looked over the chart that Neo posted when I was first looking at this setup. What kind of problems could I run into by running the 265 tire on the 8.5 rim?

Well, 8.5" translates to about 216mm. You are trying to fit a 265mm tire onto a 216mm rim. You can see the dilemma.

The tire does taper some at the mounting point and once stretched aired up, it is not as bad. Although somewhat conservative, the manufacturer has the size range for a reason. I realize many here like to push the limits, but you also have to know that it is done at the individual's tolerance for risk.
