Exclamation What tires to get after stock potenza's?

Hi everyone Im new to this site!

I drive a 03 IS300

Wondering what tires everyone switched to on there is seeing that thes Potenza's are garbage and have abnormal treadwere.

Is the camber off on my car or does everybodies potenzas wear like crazy on the inside in the front?

Thanks for your help

well the potenzas are nice, but the treadwear compound is really low compared to other tires. I have toyo proxes 4 tires. either that or Yokohama Avids if you are looking for long life. and yea, the camber on the IS is a common problem a simple alignment should fix it.

The toyo's are good tires and wear well.

Lots of choices out there for tires. Personally, I would recommend a 225/40 tire for the car.

Also, here's a thread about abnormal tire wear.

What tire size do you need & do you want an all season high performance tire or summer rubber?

Well I live in AZ so Z rated and 215/45/17 is stock I could probably go up to 225 but I dont want to get any wider because that would just accelerate the wear.

do you know of any all season tires that perform as good as a summer tire?

I would think an all season would have better tread wear.

I just want to get about 20-25K out of a set!

Go to www.tirerack.com and look at any/all of the 225/40/17 (presuming you have 17" rims).

The additional side wall of the 225/40 series will give you a little more rubber between you and the road.

I have used the stock Potenza's, Toyo Proxes 4, Conti Extreme contact and Pirelli P-Zero Nero's.

Favorite out of the group would be the Toyo's.

Hrmm, I don't remember having much of a problem with the stock potenzas but it's been a while since I have had them so that isn't saying much. I am back to 17s due to my 19s wearing REALLY bad and I have the Dunlop SP Sport FM901 in 225/45/ZR17. They are a summer tire but boy let me tell you I am loving these tires so far. They grip well in dry or wet environments and ride great too. They have a great looking tread on them too for that show aspect. lol

Here's a pic of the tires on my car. Don't mind the nice red sway bar.

Yup, got the perfect tire for what your looking for. Falken Ziex ZE-512.

You'll get minimum 30,000 miles, a high performance all season (yes you will get longer tread wear on an 'all season' over a summer tire). Excellent handling, wet weather performance & an aggressive tread pattern. Came in first overall in a Consumer Reports test of 20 high performance all season tires. My wife has them on her car, several of my co-workers have taken my advice & I have them on my short list when I need to replace my current Toyo's down the road. Quite a few Lexus owners from this site & LOC (Lexus Owners Club.com have them as well) Treadwear 360, Traction A & Temperature A.

http://www.falkentire.com/tires_512.htm

I'm guessing roughly $110 - $115 a tire to boot! Awesome value in a Japanese tire!
