LS430 20" wheels fitment question
I have a set of new 20" chrome Auto Couture Supremes 3-piece, with the rears being 20x9.5 with a 43 offset. I want to make the rims a 10" width by replacing the outer rim, giving me 1/2" more lip. I'll assume a 275/30-20 tire. If my calculations are correct, this will change the offset to 39.875, no?
So the wheel will be 20x10 with 39.875 offset - will this fit with zero issues? The inner will clear, but will the outer hit the fender? Can I even get new outers that are wider? Whats the minimum offset required for a 10" width wheel for the rear, for no clearance issues?
Car is a 2001 LS430 UL, not lowered.

i am not 100%, dunno about LS fitment, but that's pretty aggressive. i have a feeling that it might rub
but first of all, you have a good wheel shop to do that for you? that's not something trivial to do

We tried as well, in Japan, LS430 can go up to x10.5, in the US, unfortunately x9.5 (99% of the case), so I will say good luck

To figure the new offset, I subtracted 1/4" from the 43mm offfset, figuring the 1/2" increase in rim width is added to the outer side of the mounting surface, thus moving the center of the rim only 1/4" towards the mounting surface. Hence 43mm - 3.175 = 39.875mm
I don't have a wheel shop, but havent looked around. I was just curious if anyone knew if it would fit. If it doesn't, I'm not going to bother.

I think the most important factor would be attaining the replacement lips. I have personally found that many companies will not sell just lips (even Lowenhart, Maya, etc).

yeah I didnt think about that....the guy I bought the rims from had a few extra outers and asked if I was interested but I declined, so I thought they were readily available. But maybe not.

I think they do this to prevent people from purchasing non staggered wheels and then just getting new barrels to stagger them. (in addition to obvious liability reasons)
Good luck with the project

D, you are absolutely right, we shall make your comment as an official post to notice all luxury wheel owners. When buying these wheels, make sure to buy from a reputable company which has some tracking record

rominl, you're right, I don't know what I was thinking, I computed 1/8" instead of 1/4" during the conversion to metric. So it would be 37mm - yeah thats pretty aggressive.
