295/25/20 possilbe on 2nd gen gs ??
Its time for me to buy new rear tires ... I was wondering if 295/25/20's will fit on a second gen gs with the fenders cut and rolled ...my 275/30/20's fit fine with no fender mods of rubbing with a 2.5 inch drop on the car .... has anyone done this ..... My appologies if this thread has came up before ... but I dont seem to see the seach button anymore.

That tire will be huge. I think TTurbopimp is doing the 305/25/20 tire but I dont know if he has installed them. That is going to look sick. I say go for it. If you dont mind rolling the fenders then do it. Who makes these 305/25 and 295/25 tires, and how much do they run ?

Ive only found the 305 in Pirelli PZero and Continental, the 295 in Pirelli PZero and Michelin ranging from $315 and up .... I have a 10 inch wheel .... so I think a 295 will be a perfectly vertical sidewall ... i think you would need a 10.5 or 11 inch wheel for a 305 not to have that bubbled look ...... but im leaning just to get the 285/30/20 because they make the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 and ive been hearing great things about them ... especially form D1

Sure, with the right width and offset this is a slam-dunk on the GS.
Michelin makes the Pilot Sport A/S (all season) in this size, and the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 should be available by summer.
It should be noted, however, that Michelin's 295/25-20 is extremely wide, really more like a 300mm or 305mm wide tire- this likes AT LEAST a 10.5" wide wheel, preferably a 20x11"
If you are running 20x10 with a "normal" offset (+40 to +45) and 275/30-20s (I wouldn't expect to see rubbing issues with a conservative set-up like this), expect to have fender issues with the 295/25-20 tire on the same wheel unless you do some modifications.
The 295/25-20 looks fairly 'bulbous' on a 20x10 wheel- we do this set-up on the rear of the current body E-Class (W211 platform, 20x10 +37) and it looks okay, but not great (granted, I am hyper-critical of wheel/tire combinations & offsets)
Pirelli had announced the 305/25-20 NERO tire about a year ago- I am still waiting for mine...
Continental has the Sport Contact 2 available in this size- use the 255/30-20 on the front for a nice diameter match. I like this set-up because it is shorter than my current 285/30-20 tire and gets the car back closer to it's original odometer readings and gearing.
Has Jeff (TTurboPimp) installed his 305/25-20s yet? I just did this set-up on a new Mercedes CLS 500 (4" rear lip, Conti 255/30-20 + 305/25-20)- the rear tires look INSANE fron the back of the car!!

The BFG's have a 300 AA tredwear ... not to shabby i think ...... my nittos has a 300 and i got 2 years with 50k miles on them... ... BFGs are extremeley noisey though, due to their Y (186mph+) speed rating and tread hardness/pattern.
I think im going to go baby steps and just go 285/30/20 ... and i think ill still at least have to take that black fender strip off like i had to on the front.. Besides I do not think I could stand to loose anymore sidewall with a 25series and my JIC FLTA2's set on high dampening.
275/30/20 sidewall is 3.2
285/30/20 sidewall is 3.4
295/25/20 sidewall is 2.9

Yeah I'm going 295/25 - 20 out back on an 11 inch rim with the super sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires.
A couple of problems though.
1. If anyone chooses this rear tire, then it would be best to run a 255/30-20 up front. If you dont, then the front tire overall diameter will be larger in front than the rear. The difference could be as much as a half inch larger, depending on the size you have up front. It won't look good and the profile will be taller up front .
If your gonna have rubber bands for tires, might as well have them all the way around, not just the rear. Also gotta have some high quality rims to minimize chances of bending.
2. Problem #2 is Michelin has not released the front tire size as of yet in a PS2, though the rears are already available. What are they thinking ??? It is useless to sell one without the other!
So now that my rims are sold, I am stuck cause the front tires won't be available for about a couple of months. Now I can't drive the car till I get the front tires ! And NO , I can't drive with stock rims because of my BBK kit up front won't clear the stockers.

and to be honest i am still not really comfortable with 295/25/20. that effective will push the overall diameter to close to stock, meaning the profile is a even lower than the "normal" 20s setup. roads here in cali aren't bad, but far from perfect as well.
if i really have a choice, i might still prefer 305/25. i dont' mind running overspec
one day when i get wheels for the sc430, i do want 11 in the back, but that's wishful thinking right now

So ..... 285/30/20's seem to be the best fitting on a 10 inch rim then? Boy I wish mayaray and everyone told me that 2 years ago ..... everyone told me to get 275/30/20...maybee just to be conservitave ... I hate the stretched look ... no rim protection .... and smaller sidewall .... A 245/35/20 and a 285/30/20 have the exact same sidewall (3.4) and very close overall diameter.
Stock Diamenter = 25.3
245/35/20 = 26.8
255/30/20 = 26
275/30/20 = 26.5
285/30/20 = 26.7
295/25/20 = 25.8
305/25/20 = 26
