Default Safe wheel sizes and offsets

I have searched the site for about 30 minutes trying to find ANYONE that mentioned wheel sizes and offsets on their LS400... but to no luck. Can we start a thread that can stick around for future reference? (or point me to an existing one?)

I have a 95 LS400 and I want to do the VIP-look: 19's or 20's with a lip. I would like to do 9-10"-wide wheels in the back, but I don't know the offsets that will allow for the correct fitment.

If you have larger wheels can you list the size, width and offset along with your year and notes about the fitment? Thanks!

Darren

Have you gone to tirerack.com? I would assume that when you use their wheel selector that they will all fit in terms of width and offset. And even if they don't have a rim that you like, you might get the width and offset from one they have and that would give you an idea what will fit.

The Dunlops on my 2004 (17") sure have soft sidewalls. I have a while before they will need replacing but i'm trying to figure out if I can get away with just new tires or if I'll need to go to at least 18's.

Yeah, I did use TireRack's website (and was pleasantly surprised that when I selected my year and model they even got the color right! How did they possibly know? --grin--) but they only suggest KNOWN SAFE sizes and I want to push the limits. Before I drop $3000+ on a set of dope wheels I want to know that they are going to fit!

I am specifically talking about the VIP-style of wheels... something like an 8-9" front and probably a 10" wide rear... in 19" or 20" sizes. TireRack just won't cut it! Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Well, it was either buy a nine-year-old car to leave me money to fix it up the way I want it or buy a five-year-old car and leave it alone. I choose the former.

There are NO VIP Lexus owners in here!?!

I guess so -- I spefically wanted to talk to LS400 owners though, I will get a lot of unneeded input from every other Lexus owner if I post there... but I will give it a shot. Thanks.

19x8.5 or 19x9 +35~+42 for the front (make sure u get the high-disk since ur LS400 has the bigger 4-piston brake calipers in the front.)
19x9.5 or 19x10 +35~+45 for the rear.

As for in 20s', same width & offset as the 19s' will do.

PERFECT! Thank you!

Did you experience any rubbing with this combination?

Well, it all depends on how low u drop ur car what kind of tires/sizes u're running (different brands of tires in same specs are different in dimensions.)

Understood -- I guess I am asking if you are currently running 19's or 20's on your LS400 and if you are currently experiencing any rubbing. i can deal with a little bit, but don;t want a lot!

not many people care about making the wheels flush here. You may wanna check out www.vipstylecars.com

A few questions you need to ask yourself first are:
How low are you going? Are you willing to roll the fenders? Are you willing to run stretched tires?

I'm going to be running 19x9 +42 and 19x10 +43 with 235/45/19 and 265/30/19
I'll be adding 25mm spacers front and rear to make them 19x9 +17 and 19x10 +18
I may go with smaller tires but I'm not sure yet.
suspension: jicfla2
fender mods: rolled fenders

btw nice s13 convertible

Yeah, I wouldn't mind rolling the fenders or stretching the tires.... I am watching this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7937831731

How low I go really depends on the wheels and tires.... I am going to go as low as they allow me to go without rubbing too bad. Not going to do coilovers, though... just lowering springs.

I am going to check out that site... looks exactly like what I needed to discover!

Yeah, I love my 240. It has a black-top SR20DET along with a 5-speed conversion and Cusco LSD. Its pushing somewhere around 250-260Hp right now and I am shooting for 300. Fun fun fun!
