Default SC400 w/ Supra TT Wheels...what size tire

the rear wheel is 17X9.5 and currently it's 255/40/17 which is too small for the size. going by the tire size calculator the size came out to the 275/40/17 to match the stock wheel size. tirerack tells me that the only size that would fit is 265/40/17 and will not gurantee the 275/40/17. the choices of tires for 265/40/17 are quite slim.

so my question is would 275/40/17 rub in the back with the supra TT wheel? it looks like there's plenty of clearance in there...but i want to double check if someone has gone through this before.

Not sure if you talked to me on this, but it is bigger then we guarantee. However, I have seen that size on SC befor it should be ok.

I just picked up a set of TT wheels that had 245/45-17's & 275/40-17's on them:

The 275's fit flush without a spacer, don't feel confident in dropping it 1" unless I put 255's on the rear. The 245's definitely could use a spacer to push them out a bit.

onehot is correct.... it will not rub at all..not even close ... the 50mm offset is tucked nicely.
My winter tires are TT wheels w/ 275 40 17 on the rear and they fit perfectly.
I am actually pondering to go a hair larger ...

What would be the next appropriate size up??

Follow-up question, occasionally I squeeze a couple of people in the rear seat, any rubbing issues with a full load wih 275's and a 1" drop?

Thanks

Just following up with this thread!

I'd like to go meatier... having 285s. But wider would be better. I've heared even 305s on TT wheels but I can't seem to find any pictures or anyone using wider than 285s.

I hope someone can chime in!
