Default powdercoating wheels

anyone know how reliable the finish is when you powdercoat a wheel. I was thinking about powdercoating the center of my wheels titanium or gunmetal. Also how much $ it would roughly cost

The quality depends on how good your powdercoater is. I've paid $200 for a set of wheels.

In my opinion, this is the best "durable" finish there is. I've got my truck rims done in black and they've seen some serious offroading. It takes a good smack to chip the powdercoating.

remember, just like paint, it's all in the prep work. Either do it yourself or make damn sure they know what you want. Once it's baked it's a tough to remove. I've gone as far as buying a roll of their high-temp tape to do my own taping to make sure I had no body to be pissed at but myself.

One other thing. The powdercoating shops around my area only do powdercoating, they will send your product to a sand/bead blasting shop to remove the current finish, at a premium and a longer turn around time. I found that taking care of the pre-powdercoating steps will quicken the process up and normally come out a little cheaper.

good luck with it

I'm fixin to powder coat my wheels...I have a 3 piece wheel so I have to remove all the nipples around the wheel to accomplish this move, that way the lip stays chrome and the star just gets coated.
a local rom shop will take them apart for 35 bucks a piece ( not bad i guess)

my uncle does powder coating at his work, he braught me a DUPONT powder coating brochure and WOW theyv'e got some awesome silvers. I'll post pics when job is finished...probably a next month project

Hummm ... I'm trying to work with a shop up in Ct. to do some powdercoating on rims... they do high end parts and bike frames...
There seems to be a need for this...
I am gonna give them a set of rims to "play" with in a couple of weeks (scary thought)..lol
I'll keep u guys posted.
