Default A little rant over Pirelli P7000 Super Sport

I have used these tires for the last year or so. I had the rear longer than the fronts.

I have posted several threads trying to diagnose with vibrations that started occuring in my 1992 SC400.

I would have never thought that Pirelli's would make such junk.

1. Noisy
2. Rough handling
3. uneven treadwear
4. tramlining
5. groove riding
6. uneven grip

For the last several months I've had issues with vibration. Every time I had an issue I would bring it to different shops to change something..... and finally it is solved... Tires.... they suck.

In trying to fix this vibration problem i've had from 65mph to 80mph I've changed

1. lug nuts
2. brake rotors
3. wheel alignment 2 times
4. tire balancing 3 times
5. tire flipping + balancing
6. wheels taken out to be checked for roundness, remounted and balanced
7. tranny mount
8. steering rack bushings
9. wheel hub centering rings
10. TEIN HA's unmounted and remounted and remeasured and reinstalled
11. All bushings re-inserted (yes all Daizen bushings front, rear, upper and lower)
12. engine mount taken out and put back in (perfectly good)

I would have never imagined that Tires could have made this type of impact. Car felt like I was sitting on a massage chair. I even pulled my car off from the for sale section because i couldn't figure out what the problem was.

Worst $900 I ever spent on anything. I think I would feel better if I got robbed for $900 on the street then having to have spent all that time and money chasing around to fix this problem.

I would never use another Pirelli product.... ever. No wonder it was pulled off the market last year... My lack of research made me buy some new ones for the front only 4 months ago, more than 1/2 year after it was discontinued supposedly. I'm an ahole.

Some of you guys who know me, know how **** I am when it comes to how the car drives and runs. (I am the worst when it comes to keeping the car clean or washed). I check tire pressue every gas fill up, and fully release and re-set my coilover settings every oil change. Every 15k miles I have all the nuts and bolts re-torqued. P7000SS suck.

This was just a rant.

going with kumhos. At one time I had kumhos on all 5 of my cars... and they were a little noisy but never vibrated and always wore perfectly evenly. I am going to go with kumho ASX.

You get what you pay for. There IS a reason why Pirelli P-Zero tires are bad ***. Because they cost more. Pirelli P7000's and P6000's are cheap tires. You can't expect much out of a company's lower-end tires.

a 265/35/18 P7000 Super Sport costs $227

a 265/35/18 Pzero-nero M&S costs $248

compared to
Falken Ziex 512's 265/35/18 costs $206.

the P7000 SS does say that it's a ULTRA High performance tires for more money then their competitors I would have expected better. By the way the P7000 SS is not classified as their low end tire. It's in the same category as the Pzero-nero M&S.

I don't think I went cheap spending $1000 for a set of tires.

re-check facts before calling something bottom of the line. It is one of their premiere tires and they sucked.

simple fact.
I paid above average price to get below average tires.

You don't always get what you pay for. The statement "you get what you pay for" is so overused and so misguiding and generalizing it makes me sick every time I hear it.

Sometimes you get ripped off(crap tires in this case), sometimes you get a real good deal that works out in your favor (like my SC400 that I bought with 23k miles 5 years ago immaculate for $12k)

Default Vibration Problem

VSsc400
Nice to know you finally found your vibration problem.
I solved my vibration problems by installing Vlamos Bushing all around and replacing engine and trans mounts and installing a dragon torque converter.

I went with Continental Tires and did a lot of research before purchasing tires.

Compared to all the headaches you have had and the money spent and finally finding out the problem was crappy tires.
I suggest you contact Pirelli and send them copies of the bills incurred trying to solve your vibration problems and finally finding it was their crappy tires that made you incur all these costs.

Perhaps you can get a full refund for the tires you purchased and some of the costs for the moneys spent.
