Default Question about offset for 20's

I have wheels that I am probably going to put on a 2000 maxima, but they also might go on my friend's GS (if he buys them) so the rims are 20x8.5 with 5-114 bolt pattern and a 44mm offset. Is that offset too high? Will it look good on a maxima, what about a GS?

What other cars might these spec rims fit on...like will they fit on an rx330, LS400, or an acura MDX. Any input is appreciated.

Those will work on the Maxima, but i would suggest running a 225/35-20 on that car. They will also work for the GS, although 44 is a little on the high side (will be be just a little "in" with regards to the fender). For the GS, run a 245/35-tire

LS- has large caliper so without knowing the disk type of the wheel, there is no yes/no answer

MDX- may be able to accept them, but trial and error is needed.

RX- runs offsets in the 20s and you have to be VERY careful about width.

Best thing to do it to pick a car and then pick wheels, rather than trying to choose a "one size fits all" wheel. Good luck

Will these fit an rx 330? Also if they were to go on a gs wouldnt 5mm spacers do the trick as they would lower the offset from 44mm to 39mm?

In theory yes. You can even put bigger spacers in the rear. I tend not to like spacers though, especially small ones. They make the wheels lug centric and you can never center them quite exactly which will then lead to some vibrations.

Yes but aren't h&r spacers hubcentric so you wouldn't have any of those problems?

Only the larger ones. The 5mm ones are not.

SCO- have you already purchased these wheels, and are now car hunting?
As I said previously, if you have the oppurtunity, purchase your wheels after you decide on a car. Offset/centerbore/caliper clearance, etc vary way too much among different cars to figure out how to make 1 set of wheels fit on all of them, sight unseen.

Just trying to help you avoid wasted time, $$$ or effort, good luck!

yeah I probably sound a little wierd at this point, I do have the rims and they are for sale. I'm just trying to learn more about wheel specs for future reference. Although it would be nice to buy wheels you like once and be done, 'a one size fits all" is a nice thought.

i agree with other people about what they said, and definitely worry about what car you getting first before you start looking at wheels. otherwise it's going to create more trouble later on
