Default Gs/goodyear Eagle Tire Noise

Does anyone else have stock gs430 w/16inch eagle GT+4 goodyears. Mine have 23k miles on them & they are pretty loud and hard feeling.

Has anyone else noticed they make a wierd sound(Bass type sound almost) at 55-60 mph ,especially when decelerating through that speed range?

My tires still have half decent tread but I'm wondering if they ride worst because they are 4 years old.

These were my stock tires on my stock rims when I first aquired the car. They are okay, but will crack and start to dry rot. I have since upgraded to 17inch OEM rims and gone through a set of yoko DB's which I do NOT recommend. I now have the Goodyear eagle F1 GSD3 There is a review of summer and max tires here on the tire forum.

Btw, those stock goodyears will get louder as the thread gets less. Run and get yourself a new set. Look for a promo deal on goodyears for a $75 cash card.

I was thinking about getting the F1GS-D3s. How do you like them as far as noise and ride?

They look sweet!

Yes, they are quiet and stick like glue. Very sticky tires...and handle great. It takes a lot for me to break these tires loose. Oh, and they do indeed look pretty sweet. The tread pattern is very nice and aggressive looking. Save yourself the money on the S03 and get these ...you wont be dissappointed.

Thanks Drew. I am ordering 4 tomorrow(225/55/16)

2 more quick questions.

How many miles do you have on your GSD3s and will my car still ride like a luxury car?

Yeah your car will still ride like a luxury car. You still have 16 inch rims. There is so much tire cushion that will keep that lexus floaty feeling. If you want to increase handeling than go to the 17in setup. That will work well and still keep the luxury ride. Once you start to change out the suspension than you really alter the cars feel which is a must for me...cause I feel the stock GS 16inch tires and suspension are too floaty for my style of driving. I was in the same boat you were in about 3 years ago. I was against dropping the car...and started with upgrading to 17in tires and wanted to keep that lexus feel. Stay on CL long enough and you will be sucked into the darkside of the force my friend. SPEED and SUSPENSION upgrades will be like a drug and addiction. YOU WILL NEVER GET ENOUGH!!!

Good luck with the tires

BTW, the F1 also handle really well in the wet.
Let me know how they work out for ya. Keep in mind that these are summer tires. Not recommend for snow or all season performance ....I would double check that. Because they are summer tires, they will not give you the longevity cause they are made up of a softer rubber compound.
The way I drive "aggressive" I expect that these tire will last me 12k-15k miles. If you are not an aggressive driver you should get about 20k miles out of them...I think they are rated at 280 utqg.

Yo Drew

I don't think I'll have to worry about snow down here in sw florida>rain is another story.

Did you get yours from tirerack? I'm hoping my tire shop doesn't get pissed when I bring in tires I didn't buy from them.

got any pics of these tires on the car?

thanks again

Oh yeah, my 01 gs 430 came from Jersey-Difeo Lexus- ladie drove it here to her condo. I got it 2months ago with 22k miles

Default Tire noise

I had the GT+4's and thought they were marginally nisy, but my Pirelli P7000 Supersports are extremely noisy. I had heard this, but didn't think it would be SO loud - live and learn I guess. The P-Zero Nero are supposed to be greatly improved in the noise area.
