Default Studded Snow Tire

I have been thinking about this past, nasty Pittsburgh winter. I put on Nokian tires and they were really great. Unfortunately, they did not climb me out of my steep driveway (the garage is at the bottom and at an angle that requires backing out and swinging around then the steep climb). When I knew it was going to snow, I'd leave the car out at the top...not a great thing to do with a $60K car.

I am wondering about doing what I didn in the 1970s back with RWD cars...installing two studded snowtires on the rear. Is this craziness on a Lexus? Do you folks with older LS cars ever do this? What do you guys think?

Default Studded

I don't see that there are any studded winters available for your car. You should not mix winter tires, it's important to have all four of the same. Maybe the Blizzaks would give you better ice traction, I recommend them highly.

Wink Blizzak

I placed Blizzak's on my LS400 and my wife's GS400, they are a superior winter tire....handle extremely well in snow and on ice. I had a 2000 GS in Alaska, with Blizzak's, never a problem...with Traction control, anti-skid control and snow mode, you're a safe as your driving.

Blizzak's all the way!....anything less can cause you and your car bodily damage!
