Is it only when you start to drive first thing in the morning (flat spots) or does it continue after the tires warm up?

As DaveGS4 mentioned, they sound like flatspots.

What brand and model of tire are you using? Also, how many miles have you driven on that set of tires? I remember distinctly when my sister got her white GS400, it had some cheap Kumhos on there. Basically, when the car sits overnight, it would develop flatspots. That is, when you first drive in the AM, it would be "lumpy" for the first few miles (can make a sound like a flat tire), then it would smoothen out once the tires warmed up. Cheaply constructed (or maybe even damaged) tires will do this. . .

FYI, she promptly replaced the cheap Kumhos with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires, and the overnight flatspotting problem doesn't exist any more. . .

Flatspotting--what is it? Just think of your tire--it's supposed to be round. Now think of your tires mounted onto your car, the weight of car puts pressure on the bottom part of the tire that contacts the ground, it will tend to "flatten" it a bit. If it sits overnight, some tires get a tendency keep that flat part on the round tire for a while as a type of "memory effect." To get rid of that flat area on your round tire, you need to drive it around so it gets warmed up and works the flat area out and become round again.

Cheaply made tires will get flatspots (i.e. Kumho Ecsta Supra), but other brands and models will not get them.

You can not fix the flatspotting that develops in your tire--you must replace the tires with new (and better) ones or put up with it the first few minutes that you drive to round it back out.
