How do you change the discs on a SC.
Hi
Im not a mechanic by any means but i like to work on my car myself. I can usually do this when iv got the right info. Recently iv bought some Discs and Pads for my 1991 2.5 TT. I want to replace these myself but havnt quite got enough info to be able to do it properly.
I just basically want to know how the original brake discs are held on? Are they placed in the hub which requires a special tool to pull the whole hub out or are they just held on by screws? More importantly how do you get the brake discs off?
Also looking at the picture of these brake discs which way round are they supposed to go on, as in which way should the pattern be facing? This pic shows the front disc.
Many thanks in advance.

do a search for "brakes" and you should get a wealth of knowledge
Most topics we've covered at least 5 times so "search" should be your best friend...welcome to the club!

Mike - Tried the search before i posted mate. Theres lots on about upgrades and what kinda upgrades there are out there but nothing on how you actually change the discs? Thats what i want to know?
Also it would be nice if some 1 pointed out which way the discs should spin?

Just remove the caliper moounting bolts and pull the caliper out of the way. Remove the mounting bolts for the caliper frame and pull it out of the way. Rotors should now pull off (if there are screws into the rotor, remove them with an impact screwdriver). If the rotor wont come off that easily, tap the rotor hat face (where the studs come through) with a hammer to loosen the rust holding them on. Installation is the reverse and the rears should be just as easy.

Geezums! These guys are fast!!! Posted up your answer before I could find the darn link!! Oh well, there you go...good luck..oh, and drilled rotors ARE directional to answer your question. If you look at pics of people who have them you'll see what I mean. Happy braking!
