Curb Rash on a Chrome Rim, what to do?
If you get a 3-4 inch rash from the curb on a chrome rim, what do you do?
I was told to put a good layer of wax on the area to at least help the water shed off this area.
It's not worth sending the wheel out for rechroming, so that is not an option.

What I meant by not worth re-chroming, was that the area of abrasion is only about 3-4 inches and along the bead. Replacing it would be an expensive fix that alot of people that run into this situation don't have that as an option, besides, it's not $500 worth of damage. The wheel is not bent or anything like that, I just don't want rust starting prematurely.
It was suggested on another site to apply clearcoat with a Q-tip. That sounds reasonable and affordable.

I have a similar problem on my 97 Supra - I hit a curb, but only slightly. I touched it up with silver paint to minimixe how much it shows - it always jumps aout at me but probably to no one else - and left it. The wheels are alloy so they won't rust. There are places that will take the wheel and repair and rechrome it for $2-300 but I didn't want to go thru that. It just reminds me to be more careful!
