Who makes the lightest wheels? I'm looking to upgrade from
my stock 16s and want to move up to 18x8s. I did a search but didn't see any specific weights mentioned. SSR Comps seem to be pretty light, but I am concerned with some of the stuff I saw about them bending easily.

Egoist Perfect Queen (good luck finding those...) is very light and strong.
The others are pretty common and well-known to be light and strong too: Volk, Racing Hart, Manaray, BBS....

This might be a dumb question, but I'm curious about it. Say you switch to a really light wheel and you're running 245-40-18s all around. Since it's the same overall diameter could you still use your (my) stock spare? And if you use the stock spare, would the difference in weight hurt anything? Thanks!

The main thing is the diameter being the same (or very near) as you mentioned. As for weight, even with a very lightweight 18" wheel, remember that the 245/40 18 tire will weigh more than the stock tire and will probably more than offset the weight savings lightweight 18" wheel.
Hard to get more tire on the ground and go to a plus 2, plus 3 etc. and have it be lighter than the stock wheel and tire! What you want to do is minimize the weight gain and also enjoy the benefits of the lower aspect ratio, higher performance rubber (not to mention the improved looks of course!)
Bottom line as far as your question-the different weight would be no problem for the time you would be driving on the spare IMO. You would want to take it easy anyway just because of the different tire on one corner of the car...

I found that mag, but when I posted the URL it was edited out. The Branzach Corporation has them. Just pick up Summer editiion of Rides magazine, the ad is on page 72
