Post What is the better choice...spacers for the rear or sanding down caliper?

I just installed a set of rims that are fine on the front...they are 20x8.5....and were fine for the test fit on the rear....but once the lugs were tightened, it was rubbing caliper enough so that the rim wouldnt move. My choice is to install spacers on the rear...maybe 5mm, or a tire shop suggested grinding down the calipers a little. Any ideas on which ways to go? I know alot of people here have ran rear spacers with problems?

Default Grinding

Grinding is a better choice, there is usually alot of excess metal on the caliper.

I've used spacers before, and what a scary sight it was , I recommend not to get spacers and to grind the calipers.

Sorry, don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but can you elaborate a little more on why it was scary? I currently have spacers on my front to clear my big brake kit and would am interested to know what happened in your case or you can PM me if you'd like.

Thanks.

Hmm...I decided on spacers, not only because they are going on the rear and are only 5mm...but I really wonder if they will void my warranty if they see I was grinding the calipers.
