Default rim width, lip, offset

For 2nd Gen GS owners...

If anyone is rolling on 8.5"+ (front), 9.5"+ (rear)...

What's the width of your rim? How wide are the lips? what are the offsets? Did you have to roll the fender?

Please post pics of your rims. Thanks.

1) conflict, you asked if anyone is running 8.5 and 9.5 and then you asked what's the width of the rims. the answer would be 8.5 and 9.5?

2) the size of the lip doesn't really have too much to do with the overall width, at least not directly related. it's more dependent on the design of the wheels

3) if you get the right offset, you don't have to roll fenders

4) i already have the faq as a sticky on the top of the forum on all the sizes and offset

1. I asked for rim width because I stated "8.5+" and "9.5+", not just "8.5" and "9.5"
2. Width of the rim and wheel offset will affect the width of the lip
3. Just like #3, width of the rim and offset will determine if you have to roll the fenders
4. I saw recommendations on http://www.lexusgonewild.com/WheelFitment.shtml
however, I wanted to know individual setups of owners that actually have the wheels installed on their GS.

Well I got approx. 10cm of lip in the back with 19x10 +24 and super low disk setup /w my autocouture. But I know if you buy something like Garson wheels with the same setup you will get A LOT more lip.

i have 8.5 and 10

like i said widths and offset determine part of the lip, but the major part is still the wheel design. i have 2" in the front (still clear big brakes) and more than 3" lip in the back, but that's the max you can get with hre (with no mod). if you go with gettins 10 in the back, you can get 4" with super low disk. if you go with low disk gettins in the front with 8.5, you can still get around 3" of lip. and that's with offset HIGHER than my hre already. so you can see offset has little in determining the lip size

I have new wheels coming w/in next 2 weeks and they will be 20X8.5 in front with a 2.5" lip and 20X9.5 in the rear with a 3.5" lip. Offset is 40 for both.

When you guys are referring to "lip,"

1. are you measuring the distance between the edge of the face of the wheel to the outer edge of the wheel?

2. Or are you measuring the distance between the inner edge of the lip to the outer edge of the wheel?

There is a difference. For example let's take wheel A and wheel B. Wheel A and B supposedly have 3" of lip. However,

1. wheel A's face extends 1" over the lip, towards the edge of the wheel.
2. wheel B's face extends 2" over the lip, towards the edge of the wheel.

Technically speaking, wheel A has 2" of "real" lip. Wheel B has 1" of "real" lip. Rominl, I believe this is what you're referring to when you state the the amount of lip really depends on the wheel design.

i guess usually people refering to the actualy width of the physical lip, regardless of how much the center sticks out. so you stick a ruler to the lip and measure from the inside of the lip to the outside of the wheel.

for me it's a bit more than 2" in the front and a bit more than 3" in the back

Had 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 with 41 offset, thought they were too small in diameter and set in a little too deep.

Here's to further clarify my point of the wheel's center, hanging over the lip. Contrary to what most people say, I consider this wheel to have only 1/4 of it's lip. The wheel center hangs over 3/4 of the lip. If I placed a disc over the wheel center, this wheel would have almost no lip.

On the other hand, the center of this wheel hardly hangs over the lip. I consider this wheel to have "true" lip.

We're finally eye to eye on this topic. I see pics where people put a $1 bill over the lip to show off. In many pics the center of the wheels hangs over most of the $1 bill. My reaction is
