19" and GS400
hi guys, i have a question - which one is the best setup using the following 19" wheels with 5x114.3 bolt pattern without using any spacer : also, car is lowered 1-1.5"
19" x 8" - 38HSS
19" X 8" - 42HSS
19" X 9" - 35HSS
either 19x8 front and 19x9 rear OR 19x8 38hss front and 19x8 42hss rear.
Also, which size would be the best for the tires wrapping the above mentioned wheels ???
thx a lot .

haha you really expected me the chime in huh if i really have to choose from the batch, i would do 19x8 38 front and 19x9 42 rear. keep in mind they are both very conservative though, considering that i had 19x8.5 +38 and 19x9.5 +38 (and my 20s are even more aggressive). with the 19x8 +38 and 19x9 +42, the wheels will sit like a 19x8.5 +44 and 19x9 +48. so the front will be 6mm more inward than my old front and the rear would be a full 10mm more inward. just too conservative imho

ok, that's the deal - my 100 % stock gs400 is coming home from out of state by friday, and i'd like to start some mods right away - i want 19", so is it for sure that 245 / 40 / 19 will fit a 2000 gs400 without rubbing ? and what's the best wheel to fit this tire 19 x 9 or 19 x 8 ? ( considering a 1-1.5" spring drop) thx a lot guys !

rub or not it's about the offset. but with the fat setup you do get more chances of rubbing. doesn't mean you will rub for sure though i have to stress

ok, i'll go 19 x 8 all 4, + 38 front, + 42 rear ! it is conservative, but it's ok for me ! now, the last question - will 245 / 40/ 19 fit on all 4 ? or only 235 ?
thx a lot guys !

Also, if you are going to get different offsets, might as well go staggered (get the 19x9 since you only list x8 and x9). One of the main disadvantages of going staggered is that you cannot rotate your tires. On the other hand, the advantage of same sizes all around is to be able to rotate. BUT, it has to be the SAME size, offset and all.

yes, you're right ! either i have to go 19 x ... and same offset ( in order to rotate) or 19 x 8 front, 19 x 9 rear.
again, these are my limited choices
19" x 8" - 38HSS
19" X 8" - 42HSS
19" X 9" - 35HSS
1. as per rominl, 19 x 9 +35 rear and 19 x 8 +38 front - with 245 / 40 / 19
2. or 19 x 9 + 35 all 4 with 245 / 40 / 19
is it correct now ? i'd like 19 x 9 all4 if 19 x 9 can fit in the front w/o rubbing !
thx again.

umm..... i don't think 19x9 +35 is ok for the front though. tturbopimp has 9 in the front +38 and it's the same "flush" as my 8.5 +32. it's very aggressive already. giving it another 3mm i think it might rub.
if i have to choose, i would go with 8 +38 front with 235/35/19 and 9 +35 with 265/30/19
