To powdercoat or not???
Well, guys...I've been staring at my Volk SF Challenges in my living room since Oct..and I was thinking about getting them powdercoated black....'cuz I really like that look and the Mercury Silver seems kinda bland to me. I did a quick photoshop and I was wondering what you guys thought....
Oh yeah, I hope JunctionGS doesn't mind that I used his picture "before" he became JunctionGS

Hmmmm, thats a hard one. I think they look good both ways, they will definitely be more unique powdercoated black. On the flip side of that, down the roasd when you get bored with them, they might be harder to sell in black....black wheels are kind of a love them or hate them thing.

I agree with TTurboPimp on the resale aspect. As far as looks are concerned, I'm not a black wheel fan myself, but I am definitly open to darker silver. I am in the same delimna as you right now in terms of what to do with my wheels. I took one of my new wheels to a powdercoater yesterday and went over a few options. It's a lot to consider, especially if you want to keep a clean, simple and classy look. My suggestion is continue to experiment with different shades and talk to your powdercoater and ask him for ideas. He/she is bound to have a lot of ideas!
Wish you the best!

I'm still deciding on rims and black is definitly one of the open options (black GS). I like the photoshop, but I think you should go darker, and really match the body paint

I think I'm gonna send them out soon, but I can't seem to find anyone that will disassemble the wheel. It is a two piece, so theoretically I could do it myself, but the only problem that I have is finding out the torque specs. I called Makinen (US distributor for Volks), but they said that Rays Wheels won't give out the torque specs for fear of legal issues.
But one powder coat shop that I had called said that if I find out what size torx/hex bolt it is, there are standardized torque values, could anyone verify that for me?
