Default Promising news about Lexus

I just got done reading the article that is posted up on the main part of CLUBLEXUS and im glad to see what they said about the IS, how the next model is gonna offer alot more variety, also about making a superluxury V12 Lexus, Wow =). My favorite thing though believe it or not is how they are not saying anything about the GS, which leads me to believe that they are planning on doing something very BIG with it, hopefully a Model to compete with the AMG and ///M, what u guys think?

That is certainly the optimistic way to take it!

Another possibility is that they don't really know WHAT they want to do with the GS, so they're not announcing anything that would limit their options later on. Hell, they could even discontinue the model altogether...

They are trying to cover every category in their line up of cars. Why would they want to discontinue Lexus' mid size luxury sedan line and give up a market share to BMW and MB? I don't think Lexus will stop GS production.

I didn't say I think it's likely, but I do think it's possible. The 5-series and E-class outsell the GS by a huge margin, especially in recent years. Lexus has solidly established the ES and RX in their niches, and the LX is still a money-maker. The IS has potential and the SC, well, I won't get started on the SC. The GS, while a superior vehicle, just hasn't caught on with the mainstream luxury sedan buyer. ShowGS's original theory might be right on, but then again, who knows?!

The GS has been a BIG seller.
NEW GS is coming and i know this for a fact
my source told me about the GX months before it was announced
they are just very tight lipped about the GS because of the platform its up against.. Good things are coming soon from Lexus
They are still a new company compared to its competitors and look at what they've accomplished! Awards out the ying yang.
Im just personally waiting for a 1000hp V12 beast with a lexus logo for a mear 100k

Be patient.. the fun is just beginning!

I guess this depends on how you define "big". I did some quick internet searches, and cobbling together sales figures from what seem to be reputable sources provides this picture:

Model Year 2000 2001
Lexus GS 22K 20K
5-series 192K 194K
E-class 247K 201K
Lexus RX 90K 77K

I included the RX just for comparison purposes to show how many more of them are sold than GS's. Also, although I didn't breakdown the numbers, the GS300 outsells the GS400/430 by about a four-to-one margin.

wow..that is low compare to the 5er and the E's...BUT, may be it is an LA thing, i see as many gs(mostly gs3's) as the 528 and e320 everyday...

i kind of have this feeling that:

1). toyota japan is waiting for the release of the new 5s from Germany next yr so they know(or have a better idea) what the next GS would be...

2). they do want to make another sport GS sedan as good if not better than the competitors
