Default 2006 GS430 strut replacement

Hey guys, I own a 2006 gs430 with the suspension button to choose sport and what not so I am guessing it has the active suspension. I need to replace the front shocks and have not found an exact answer towards aftermarket front struts (kyb, koni, etc) Is there an option out there that will work properly without causing any lights on my dash for malfunction? Thank you very much for this. I have searched with people talking about kyb but yet to see what options there are...

Rock Auto sells KYB direct replacements. They are not expensive. The only drawback is that they don't have the option to support the electronically adjustable suspension. They are what most owners go with because the only option to maintain the electronic suspension capability is to buy them from Lexus and they are VERY expensive. The Rock Auto shocks will not trip any dash warning lights. You just don't plug in the electrical connectors when you install them. Your car will ride fine without the adjustability.

I have not replaced my struts yet so I cannot say for sure, but it is my understanding that the sensors are mounted on the OEM struts and not on the replacement KYBs from Rock Auto so there is nowhere to plug the connectors in on the aftermarket struts. Quite a few other members have installed the Rock Auto KYB struts so hopefully one of them can confirm exactly how it's done.

You can swap them in. I swapped my my 06 gs430 from OEM to bc racing without any issue. Disconnect the motors, removed then, and zip tied the electric plugs so they wouldnt be bouncing around. Didn't have any issues and the button won't do anything.

But, what can I swap from? 06 gs430 does not have front shocks available for sale other than OEM. Do I use GS350 RWD fronts? LS430 fronts? is fronts? They all have aftermarket strut options but none for GS430.,

When I ordered from a sponsor of the site (i forget it was 2-3 years ago), the box came in as IS350 coilovers. I think the 2nd gen IS stuff swaps over to the 3gs without any issues, but double check with a vendor. i think Fig's online shop breaks it down pretty well - http://www.shopfigs.com/v3/by-vehicle/cat-gs/cat-gs-190. If you decide to slam the car, you'll want to get the adjustable rear control arms to fix camber.

Seems like the convo is drifting from the original question. I also have a 2006 GS430 and looking for a replacement for my factor struts but not coil overs (want to maintain factory ride height). So far it sounds like we need to get KYB struts from RockAuto for the 2nd Gen IS350. Can anyone help confirm this before I order them? Thanks!

A Little late to the party but i have an 06 GS300 AWD, and an 06 GS430, i looked up the struts part numbers from lexus and they are the same, so i ordered the RWD 06 GS300 front KYB struts from rockauto and they went in no problem. I kept the motors plugged in and secured them up in the cover so i can still use the button for the stiffer steering response.

help me understand - i'm in the same boat. You're still able to use the sport suspension feature with the KYB?

I found this article that explains it a bit better, however i left the motors plugged in and secured them up inside the cover. So when i hit the switch i still get the sporty steering response from the VDIM. But the KYB strut replacement does not have the slot to slide the shaft of the motor onto it. Everything this else is the same. It was a little hard to get the top nut back on and we ended up using a press as well but we could have repositioned the clamps and got it done. All in all tho definitely worth replacing and looking for deals on these cars to save them from becoming parts cars over a 2600 dollar bill from lexo for struts and brakes.
