What's this?

Backing into a parking space I heard a ting like something ejected from my front driver wheel and couldn't find what fell out. Put it on a lift and saw this dangling down |
How did that snap? Glad it didn't happen while you were on the highway.
Here's the link to the whole breakdown of the front suspension: https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...ENSION&Title=- |
It's the arm for some leveling sensor. I was backing into a parking stall and PING! I hear something snap, hit the ground etc. I watched something metallic fly into a storm drain. Took it to the dealer, and sure as ****...that was attached to the lower suspension, and where it attached was a gap of metal that just was gone.:scratch
New ones are $250, but my sensor isn't malunctioning. I just need the arm. Anyone have one? |

If that's the leveling sensor for your head lights, it just wont auto level your lights. |
You can always try to get it rewelded if cost is a problem,
I'm just surprised it snapped like that, looks like it's pretty sturdy. FWIW, your sensor won't malfunction, but your AFS headlights will, in a way that the lights won't go up or down correctly since it is missing the arm. |
My AFS light goes on once in a while. I turn the car off, turn it back on, AFS light turns off. Welding it isn't an option, since a chunk of it is missing. I just need the arm!! :lol

What I meant was, it looks pretty sturdy for its purpose. which is to help with the leveling arm for the AFS sensor.
That sensor is free-moving, so it shouldn't have a lot of resistance to stop it and cause it to snap. Have you found a solution? if you know the distance of how much of a chunk came off, you can still take it to a aluminum welding shop and have it rewelded with a new piece of aluminum for $40-50. You just need to know the gap inbetween. https://www.tlsautorecycling.com/sea...50/132396.html Here's a place selling it for 50 bucks. Since you only need that arm, maybe you can make something back selling just the sensor. GL! |
