Default 08 GS 460 all shocks out at 58k

Hey gang. So took my car in for oil change 58k miles. Asked dealer to check suspension. Sounds like allot of rattling and really stiff. They said rear shocks are blown and front are almost shot. Quote to repair 2800. Ouch...

So asked for lexus assistance due to mileage They said lexus will pick up rear cost at 1500 and I pick up front at 1300. Sounded fair. So I took the deal.

Any thoughts on why shocks would go out at such an early mileage. Normal , common?

Thanks for any input.

^ That was very helpful....

Anyways, I think you got a great deal with all things considered. That's definitely way too early to have them go out though. How many previous owners? Maybe it had a really rough life up until now Wonder if they'd do something similar for me with my headlight fogging up at 20K

Yea that's a fair deal considering the age of the car. They have a great goodwill program!! that can happen from the sitting for long periods.

It's not uncommon for struts to go bad at 60k...actually replacing them before they are shot reduces the stress on other suspension parts...

Thanks for the feed back. One previous owner prior to me I bought it back in 13' with 35k miles. I just want that smooth ride back. That car rode like a log wagon man it was rough..I cannot wait to get it back and see how she drives.

I wonder if I'll have the same luck since I'm still under warranty...its funny...you can't get them to replace one (or I should say they don't want to) when you are paying out of. pocket but when it's warranty work they will replace only one....smh...

I have a 2006 GS430 and the rears are going out, only has 70k miles. So much so that the AFS OFF light comes on intermittently which I have deduced is because the rear leveling sensor is triggering that the back end is sagging.... Anywho, gave me a valid reason to order a new set of coilovers. Going static soon!

Shocks are on and the car rides awsome. Big difference in handling also. They also changed the rear headlight sensor claims cannot remove without breaking. No cost to me. Bonus! !

Oil change and recall for some kind of seal. She's good as new now.
