their very simple to install. theres a DIY in the suspension forum. it requires you removing your wheel and removing the 2 bolts at the bottom behind the rotor.

decent coils are over $1000 but keep in mind theres more benefits to coils then just lowering. These RCAs are a cheaper alternative to say lowering springs where you dont have to mess with the suspension or wearing out the oem shocks. RCAs are good if your only concerned about a mild drop. RCAs are not meant for big drops which is where coilovers or air would come in play.

I was thinking this kind of fits my bill i have the 06 awd & i am in the hunt for some 20 inch rims but dont like the wheel well GAP they provide. I also live in jersey & dont want to lower the car that much just want to close some of the gap once i get some rims & tires...So im thinking my choices are

1. Spend 1k for coilovers (that i will just be using to get rid of a little gap)
2. get rca's (80% cheaper) that will do the same thing (but possibly not enough)

I have a couple of question about the rca method will this cause early tire wear the way coilover do ?

Do they need to be different sizes if running staggered ?

it shouldnt effect tire wear at all and different sizes no. the only problem is they do not make a rear kit yet (to my knowledge). i think they problem you may run into is it may not drop the car enough for you. Easy way to tell is measure from the top of your tire to the center of the fender and then deduct the size of the RCA (20mm or 25mm) and that will show you where the fender will sit after the RCAs are installed.

I PM's PHML, he only has 25mm which he is not sure will work with my stock 17's. Does anyone know where else I may be able to get a set of 20mm?

actually there will be some extra tire wear on the insides. the upper suspension arm gets raised a little which is connected to the wheels so there's gonna be a little bit more negative camber. but in my case, my tire wear won't be as bad as someone dropped aggressively on coilovers or even tanabe DFs.

it's funny that you can only get 25mm blocks because when i wanted to get them, i originally wanted that size but all pete had was 20mm and 30mm. you definitely can't use blocks bigger than 20mm if you're gonna be running 17" rims...

there's only about 2-3mm of space between that bolt and the inner barrel

Probably the case for the AWD on stock 17s...trying to get greyhndfan to mount his stock 17s cuz he got the 25mm blocks, but runs his 20" Works.

yikes only 2-3mm clearance with the 17's? Hopefully my 17 will clear on my IS when i install these.. Or else need to remove them every time winter comes..

How long did it take you to install both of them?

the entire process (from putting it on jackstands to torquing the lugnuts down) took me about 2 hours. i had a little bit of trouble when the circle that sticks out of the top of the block wasn't sliding into the holes on the bottom of the steering knuckle but then i realized that when you tighten the bolts, the gap closes. you'll know what i'm talking about if you install these. but once i figured that out, the other side took me 15 mins.

The AWD versions have a thicker and different lower ball joint ....that's why the 20mm is the only size you can run with 17 inch stockers.

Pic....20mm RCA on AWD version....

The non-AWD versions have regular lower ball joint....not as thick....so in theory the 20mm and 25mm should fit on 17 inch stockers...probably need at least 18" for the 30mm...still waiting on confirmation.
