the title of your thread says active suspension system or apsss (active power stabilizer suspension system). to my knowledge (and someone correct me if i'm wrong here), there is no "button" to push for apsss. it is automatic.

but if you are talking about "sport" button, then you are talking about AVS (adaptive variable suspension), which is not the same thing as apsss.

apsss is electronic sways, which is better than f-sport sways. AVS has to do with the shocks, and controls the suspension damping.

regardless of whether you have apsss or not, you can add either lowering springs or coilovers to provide better handling and control.

springs/coilovers with apsss > stock with apsss
springs/coilovers without apsss > stock without apsss

note that with coilovers, you will lose AVS functionality (because you are replacing stock shocks with aftermarket ones).

yeah made a mistake meant AVS sorry about that, so I think I'm gonna go with the f-sport springs and the f-sport sway bars for somewhat better stability.

these abriviations seems to confuse me sometimes... but I think Storm's post above is clear.

The active power stabilizer suspension system (APSSS, or sometimes ****) is the motor located in the spare tire well, rare and available on some 450h and 460s (someone correct me if am wrong).

The adaptive variable suspension (AVS) is less rare, available on all (right?) 450h and 3G V8s, and is indicated by the Sport/Norm switch in the center console, right below the heat/vent seat controls.

Active Power Stabilizer Suspension System (2007 GS430 and above)
Working in conjunction with sensors and acomputer that detect the amount of force needed to help keep the vehicle flat in a turn, the active stabilizer system increases sway resistance by twisting the stabilizer bars. Which pre-loads them to help them behave like thicker sway bars without having to compromise a smooth ride.


Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS)
AVS is a computer-controlled system that continuously adjusts shock-absorber damping rates to help provide appropriate ride comfort and handling precision. Sensors monitor wheel speed, engine rpm, steering-wheel movement, brake application and vertical body motion to determine the ideal damping rate for each shock absorber. The driver can also select the ride firmness with the press of a button.

Can you keep the APSSS functional even if you install Strut Bags ? Anybody have a Bagged or GS460, that's SLAMMED on Coilovers with the APSSS?

Just drove a (modded) GS460 for the first time, and I gotta say....LOVE LOVE LOVE that car. Def worth upgrading from my 2GS 430, even. I didn't think it would be THAAAT noticeable, but that engine..wow! Sounded so mean...

Hi, there are quite a few of the GS460 models imported into New Zealand as second hand imports from Japan - both being right hand drive markets. Quite a few of these cars are equipped with **** as well as other safety equipment such as the Driver Monitoring System. A recent search of the motor vehicle register showed there are about 65 RHD 2008 GS460's registered - notably fewer 2009-2010 models (in line with the significant drop off in other markets). My own GS460 appears to have many of the options available with the exception of parking sensors. My GS also has factory body kit, LED DRL, Radar Cruise, LKA, sunroof, amongst all the other usual stuff like heated/cooled seats etc.

Typical prices shown are around NZD$14000 (or USD$10000).
