Custom camber kit
 

Hi everybody. I'm a long time reader but first time posting. Lots of good knowledge around here from you guys, so thanks. Well, I dropped my GS with eibach pro kits and as you all know my camber went all f-up. I tried aligment and everything, nothing worked. Finally I took it to a custom body shop around here and they are fixing it. They are replacing the upper control arm, adding a new one with 2 hime joint in each side that will allow the wheel to be ajusted outward or inward as nedded. The best thing about the set up is that is all reversbla just in case, it can even be changed at your own garage. I just picked up the car, the were doing the measurments for the bolts and ordering the parts. The parts shpuld be here next week and the install will take place then. I'll post before and after pics from the rear showing the camber difrerence and I'll post pics of the arm before they install it and installed on the car as well. The whole deal will cost me around 250, better than brand new tires every 15k.

I have a 2006 gs430 3rd gen. The only thing that might be a problem would be if you were running a too agressive offset it would cause the tire to rub with the fender edge, but that could be corrected by getting the right offset wheel.

WOW!!! I am hoping all goes well. I had a camber kit on my G35 and it still went through tires. The kit I had seemed like it was for adding more camber for the track. I would be ecstatic if i could make a set of tires last 20k miles. I am extremely happy with my Michelins and will probably avoid cheaper toyos, nittos, and Falken tires if I can get them to last.

how low can you go before you need a camber kit. 1.5" drop too much?

Any type of drop will cause a negative camber. How much of a change??? That depends on how much of a drop. With a 1.5 drop you will definetly see the difference in the camber

when I was on the DF springs I was still within factory spec. Just barely but I was. I had no tire wear issues, had my toe corrected, so 1.5" drop you should be fine. Its the cars that are really low on coils or air that would benefit from this.

UPDATE

My car was at the shop yesterday and instead of one upper control arm my car has two at each side. So we had to order more parts (extra arms) to be able to do the mod. The only down side is the price, because the extra parts a labor price went from 275-300 to 375-400. Not that bad considering is a one time deal. Whatever I spend in the mod I'm pretty sure I'll save in tires and rotation. No installation yet, we will be ordering the parts tomorrow, I'll keep you guys posted.

All right, i just dropped the car at the shop. It will be done today. I took pictures of the wheels before installation and I'll take some pics of the after installation. I wasnt able to take pics of the arms due to the fact that I had to drop the car before the shop was open in order to make it on time to work.
