Default Brake pad size. Need answer asap please

Hey everyone,
So recently i did an LS400 BBK upgrade on my car and purchased EBC slotted rotors with posi quiet pads. To my surprise im getting a rather loud grinding sound with vibrations when i brake, this is incredibly louder when driving in the rain. I took the brake pads off today to see whats going on and it looks like the surface of the pad is slightly ( about 1mm on each side) wider than the surface of the rotor. As a result the pad ends up getting a lip that protrudes around the rotor which i believe is whats causing the noise. I got akebono pads as replacement and they are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than the centric counterparts. putting them side by side, the akebono pads look like they dont have the top 5mm of the centric pad. I triple checked to make sure that i did not get sent the wrong pads by mistake and i dont think that i have. They fit the caliper perfectly.
My questions:
Has anyone else using the akebono pads notice the size difference and is it something that i need to worry about?
Is there anything else that could be causing the grinding sound that im hearing? i checked the common sense issues like grinding inside the laiper, seized pots, something stuck in the caliper and everything looks clean. I want to make sure that its the pads before i use the new once.
The car is currently on jackstands so a quick response will be very much appreciated
Cheers!
