gs300 abs noisy pump
was wondering if the abs pump motor could be eliminated with an older style brake master cylinder with a brake booster? love the car but the noise that pump motor makes is like nails on a chalkboard.

yeah, but remember that we have an ABS ECU as well the ABS/VSC/VSC OFF lights will be eternally plastered to your cluster until the bulbs burn out. Or does someone know of a fix for removing them? Never heard of one.

Several people ask about this. There are conventional masters available (meant for racing courses) but no boosters. You would have a rock hard pedal and generally unsafe braking for street use, like when someone pulls out in front of you or stops suddenly. My suggestion is to replace the OEM unit with a JDM import. They only cost $250 on ebay and the install is quite easy. Most people see the unit as a complicated thing, but the entire thing unscrews from 4 nuts under the dash like any booster and a couple lines/electrical connections on the booster itself. Bleeding isn't any different than any other car. I had to order one for my 98 when I first got it. Noises, lights, buzzing, motor running constantly etc. Been working great since I swapped a new unit in. Of course they are all used and there is a risk and some will possibly be defective, but odds are strong you will be fine. At least I can vouch for doing it this way.

I recently swapped an Avalon booster and master into my gs. The only problem I’ve run into currently is the car will not run. I’m wondering if the abs exu which got disconnected did more than just abs and vsc.
