Ls400 brakes, yes I searched
Wondering if anyone can shed light on a question I have. It's come time to do the front brakes on my gs400 and I'm wondering if it's worth it to do the ls400 brake swap vs good pads, rotors and fluid with the stock setup? I plan to do a couple road course sessions and some auto crossing, not out to set records but I was to test the sport side of the gs name.

Yes,it is a very nice upgrade but more $$$ since you will also have to get RCA adaptors.
There are other options too such as the 07/11 GS350 and LS460 brakes upgrades. These are much bigger than the LS400 setup and you will need custom brackets. The suprastore.com has brackets for the LS460 brakes and there is a member on here who will be making brackets for the GS350 calipers.

Yes they will make a big difference but its also just as much the pads that you choose. Get some quality pads like EBC reds. Avoid anything made by stoptech unless you ALWAYS drive your car like you stole it. I had horrible deposits on the stoptech street and sport pads with my Supra brakes. No such issues with the EBCs. With good tires, pads, and upgraded calipers you'll feel like you're going through the windshield

Yeah I'm just wondering if it's really worth the extra cost over a good set of pads n rotors with the stock stuff. I'd be doing good parts with the ls swap as well but if it is not a noticable difference then why bother.

It will definitely make a difference. Just depends on how much stopping force you need and how hard you're going to be on them. The stock brakes can easily lock up the wheels with good pads. They probably can't do that repeatedly and would overheat if you were push them hard. When I was driving my car really hard a while ago my trans got hot before my brakes were even hot with TT calipers. More brakes are always better than less though

We always went to smaller brakes to fit our drag wheels and drop weight in the drag scene , but there is only one hard stop after a pass!
