Default BC Racing vs. Megan Racing Coilovers

Hello CL community,

As I start my new build with my daily - ‘12 IS350 AWD - I wanted to get your feedback on Coilovers! I’ve narrowed my search down to BC Racing Coilovers and Megan Racing Coilovers. Which one would you recommend? Which one do you think is best? Why? Pros & Cons on each product??

I appreciate all the feedback received before I make a decision!

Thanks!

Megans are cheaper to start from; however, if you end up using them for a while, the BCRs have factors that will come into play that might sway you. Like the replacement BCRs are only $100 a shock. I don't even know if Megan offers replacements. Plus I believe there's generally a larger # of members that have and enjoy their BCRs. So overall, I'd say the larger consensus is to go with the BCRs.

I loved my BCRs!

BC Racing BR series are prob one of the best bang for buck coilovers in terms of features. In the past years I've seen some members get Megans and use them no problem. Like Gville said, you can rebuild BCR coilovers, which is great for down the road if they do blow. I used mine for the first time for summer and winter months and aside from it being a little bumpy and harsher than stock in the winter because of all the snow ruts it's still a great performing coilover. Iirc someone may have mentioned that Megan Racing coilovers are produced from the same factory that BC racing is.

Do it right the first time and go with the BC’s. I had Megan LP on my car for a few years and they sucked! Not to mention that Megan’s customer service is horrible. Running 16/12 on my 350 and it feels great. Get that extreme low kit if you can

BC racing as well.
though both come from china/Taiwan, BC has better customer support and are rebuildable.

It's my understanding that BC makes the Megans, but the BCs are somewhat higher quality - with better welds and coarser adjustment threads so easier/faster to adjust, and the threads are less apt to get clogged.
The Megans are fine for street, but not for track use, or hard cornering all the time. The BCs will last longer.
