Default 2014 IS350 Rotors & Brake Pads

What brands do you guys recommend without putting a dent in my pocket? I don't want to get a brand that will wear out quickly. Just need some advice. I have to change the front rotors and brake pads first as they are metal to metal and the rear only needs the pads changed. Thanks in advance guys!!!

Are your front rotors not eligible to be resurfaced? Minimum you'll probably be spending $50 a piece for a new rotor. I'd recommend ones that come painted (e.g. Lexus OEM rotors or one of the gold/platinum offerings from Autozone/Advance Auto) if you don't want the hub area rusting in a few weeks. I know Bell Lexus is selling a set of front rotors for the 2012-2018 IS350's for $142 + shipping on eBay, you can always ask if your Lexus dealer's parts department will price match that $142.

Pads, again, I'd recommend OEM as you can usually find them for $50ish a set on eBay/Amazon. Of course, there's the aftermarket options, seems people have no issue running Duralast golds.

I'm doing well with the Raybestos Hybrid pads + Centric premium rotors. I've also had the Akebono pads, but I feel the Raybestos have a better bite feel. The dust is about the same on both brands. Both can be bought on RockAuto.com

Low wear/low dust=low stopping power/low performance.

Just be aware of that. There's no free rides. Good braking or good wear/noise characteristics. Can only choose one.

I can honestly say I don't see a bit of performance loss going to the ceramic (low dust) Akebono pads. Maybe they wouldn't be as good on a track? I don't really care about that. Daily driven, they feel great.

If I was going the low dust option, I'd just get the Lexus blue back factory low dust pads.

Just saying though in the spirit of the way the car came from the factory (performance rubber and performance pads) I figure a bit of dust is a small price to pay for optimal performance. I wash my car on a weekly basis so dust buildup is moot for me anyway.

Optimal performance is questionable when comparing to non oem pads (perhaps if you compare to the low dust Lexus pads). To me (as a daily driven car) the Akebono pads feel no different, and don't have the dust. I wash my car often as well, but having less dust to clean off means more time to focus on doing a better cleaning job...or driving!

Out of curiosity, why would you go with the Lexus low dust pads over aftermarket such as the ceramic Akebono? Experience? Wanting to stay oem?

Price. If I can get professional factory quality at the same price point or cheaper than aftermarket, then I stick with the factory logo. (even if they are supplied by a german company) These things are tested and spec'd and guaranteed to work on your car. I've had past experience with BMWs with different brands of pads having slightly different pad ear machining that wouldn't exactly fit how factory pads were and that very slight change would cause noises via microvibrations. Not saying that's the case w/ bono, but for $55, i can guarantee i don't have to find out. it's worth it.

If Lexus pads are $110 a set, i'd look into the 'bonos. But again at $55 a set, i can buy these like I buy groceries. super cheap.

If you don’t track your car get the Akebonos if you do stick with the oem. I just hate the MASSIVE amount of brake dust so I run Akebono ceramics on all my cars it’s great and with daily driving there isn’t really a difference. Get the ASP version (performance) not the ACT.
