Good call. I changed everything in the front suspension. The shop is trying to pull one over on you as far removing the steering rack, completely unnecessary. You just need to remove the camber bolt, lower shock bolt, sway bar end link bolt, ball joint, and #2 lower control arm.

IT says you need to remove the rack and pinion to get that camber bolt out? The how to in a repair guide I looked in today also said you need to remove the rack ? I’m more than willing to do it myself that was the only part I was worried about !

I'm telling you that you don't even touch the rack man. There's a bracket on the subframe that the lower control arm sits in and the camber bolt goes in one side of bracket, through the bushing on control arm, and out the other side of the bracket. You just wanna use white out or something to make matchmarks on the camber plate and subframe bracket so when you put it back together the alignment will be pretty close to where it's at now, then go get it aligned. I'll be home in an hour and i'll check my factory service manual to make sure I'm not losing my mind lol. I'm 99.9% sure that you don't touch the rack. I'll let you know.

So I just checked the manual and it doesn't even mention the steering rack it is excactly like I explained it lol. Crap like what that shop told you is the reason why I decided to teach myself how to do this kind of work. You can do almost anything with the help from this forum and advice from other forum members. A few people on here (you know who you are) have helped me tremendously. A couple years ago I would've laughed about the thought of doing some of this work on my own, now I have a 2jzgte sitting on an engine stand all torn down that I pulled out of one SC to put in another SC. Just take your time, take some pictures and label everything and things should go smoothly Good luck

Awesome appreciate it! Yea I’ve learned a lot from this forum!! I do the majority of my repairs myself, the whole rack thing is what made me nervous lol I’ve done all the other front end suspension myself just haven’t had to do the lower control arm yet and haven’t looked underneath myself to see if the bolt would hit the rack ! So thanks again I’ll be getting this completed ASAP!
