Default F Sport vs TOM's Braces

Hey CL,

thinking of getting the F Sport under chassis brace as my next upgrade but then I stumbled upon this Tom's Low Body Strengthening Brace http://www.modinjapan.com/52297-tge21-is2.html. Has anyone tried this on their car or know if it'll work with AWD? Not sure if they brace the same locations as the TOM's almost looks like half the F Sport brace.

F sport chassis is worth the money. I also have an AWD. RR USRS Bushings is another mod for the front. You will get stiffer steering feel with those.

Yup, both are planned so far. I worded it badly but I was more towards asking about compatibility with the TOM's model and if it could be better if it is indeed a competing brace.

I think they will both function the same. If there's indeed a difference will be negligible. The purpose is the same on both to tie together the suspension. Well looking at the TOM's it looks like it mounts at the center brace on the car. I'm not sure about the rear location.

Yeah I suppose the differences would be negligible unless I was really at the limit. I'll stick to the F Sport given it's price advantage. Thanks for the input.

Ah that makes a lot more sense when comparing them side by side now thanks. I think I'll still get the F sport one unless anyone can say that the Tom's ones are better in any way

i would take the f sport one as well, it is a better brace design... tom's have to design that brace that way is cause jdm version have more covers underneath than our north american version for aerodynamic...

Not to hi jack and maybe I'll open a new thread for this but what you guys think of ultra racing braces? I do know that the ultra racing front brace, one of the two, look identical to the toms brace. Anyone got any info or experience on ultra racings braces for the is250/is350/isf?

I just PM'd an eBay vendor that's selling the Tom's lookalike. Best price he gave me shipped was $175. It's rear one with triangle cutouts. I'm going to order it hopefully it will ad some rigedity to the front. According to member (Redspencer) here his old GTSpec brace was a big difference adding it to his car. The UR one should do the same at least I'm hoping. Red Spencer also mentioned it felt close to adding the rear F sport chassis brace, but expect it braces up the front end.

Link to to the bar: Page 6 he describes the GTspec front under brace.

Tom's lookalike? regardless that's an amazing price. Let us know or post a review thread when you get it done!

I decided to go with Ultra Racing braces. I think there's 5 different one's. I would've really considered Toms or the other copy cat one but they're either too expensive or too hard to find where even a google search comes up blank.

What's super convenient is these Ultra Racing braces for the IS250/350/F are all on Amazon, and if you look at Amazons prices vs. literally anywhere else I checked (mainly eBay), Amazon's prices shipped are $50-80 cheaper than everywhere else. I'ma bout to purchase the last two braces that I don't have to complete the set, which are the front upper strut tower bar (goes over engine bay), and the rear upper strut tower bar that goes in your trunk.

One thing to note, that I find unique (not sure if good or bad), but Ultra Racing makes their braces using steel not aluminum or whatever is normally used. Anyways, if anyone has any experience with this brand please do share, thanks.

I just placed the order for the Tom's lookalike bar. See pictured in the photo. The other one I don't think it does much. It's probably designed to stop the steering rack from shifting horizontal. This can be eliminated by installing PU bushings.
