Default Coilover Questions

I've been trying to get some info from the forum but there's not much on coils. I see that the BC Coils are popular here but wanted to learn more than just simply go with the popular choice.

What makes a coil better than the next brand? What should one look for before buying one
What are the recommended spring rate?
If the front coils come with adjustable pillowball mount will that be enough to correct any camber?
When do you start needing camber kit (drop wise)?
What are the popular choices here, beside BC Racing?

Any additional info will be appreciated, thanks in advance

Coilover Brands I can think of from the top of my head:
  1. Megan Racing - budget friendly coilover brand, usually bunched with the BC BR series
  2. RSR Sport I - heard of some members opting for these, probably a step up from BC/Megan coilovers
  3. KW Variant 3 (v3) - a bit pricey but are a good brand for fine tuning of rebound and compression dampening (independently)
  4. J5 Suspension - this is the only brand I know of that makes coilovers that are compatible with the AVS (adaptive variable suspension) settings
  5. Ohlins - heard of a member on the 3is getting these, they are pretty dang pricey but quality by this manufacturer is top notch (more for tracking use)
Update: regarding the pillowball adjustment you mentioned - i believe the 3is is a double wishbone setup so camber adjustment on coilovers wont do anything for camber correction.
You would need camber arms to correct for that. Depending on how low you want to ride - the factory suspension already comes with a good amount of camber (up to about -3 of natural camber fully dropped if I remember).
If the idea of getting camber arms is to adjust and try to 0 - in camber then yes camber arms will help you in that regards for maximum tire life.
Depending on your goals of wheel fitment - some people want more negative camber / \ to help with clearance.
I'm not sure what your goals are here.

Well hope that at least helps you in some regards

Anyone knows if the coils for is 250/350 rwd fit the 200t? I was looking at ISC coils but they can't confirm that they fit. Anyone knows if they are good, better or equal to BC racing?

I liked the fact that they offer a 5 year warranty

The 16 IS200t YES, but spring rate MAY BE different, but dont hold me to that. The 17 IS200t does NOT use the same suspension in the front, but the rears are still the same.
