Default Crossmember brace broken.

Hey guys,

I started a thread about my issue, but it was deleted before I could finish reading the responses. Don't know why that happened, anyway. I found a broken crossmember brace under the front of my 02 gs430. Looks like water from the A/C hose was dripping directly onto the brace and rusted her through. My question, what does the brace actually support, can I remove it and still drive while I wait for a replacement and where can I get a used one for cheap? I really don't need the aftermarket ones right now. I'm just starting a new job and can't justify spending over $200 bucks for the upgrade. Thanks guys. Oh here are some pics...

Yea, it's just a brace that minimizes front end flexing/twisting.
I'd just take of the section where it connects to the front of the car but leave the parts that cover the castor arm bushing.
But you're not in any real danger by just leaving it as it is.

The pictures could just as well have been from my GS430. I want to replace this brace. Does anybody know what the part number is or what is the official name of it?

those always rust out... salt doesn't help and because it is hollow, it gets inside the tube and rusts from the inside out... i replaced one already and the second one that is on there is also showing rust but hasn't broken yet... if you don't get TRD one, just get another OEM one.. they are cheap...

Do not buy a stock one go on ebay and get the TRD or TOM used for a good price. Or Cusco makes them still and they are nice. I have one.

man that TOM's looks rough, but a Powder coat will clean it up. be worth it if it had a better price.... i had the OEM the TRD and then sold it to buy the TOM's for the little extra bracing it offers

Thanks Fella's,

I am just going with the OEM. For $88, it's not a terrible deal if it lasts another 10 years.

I don't race it and am not looking for additional performance.
