Wink New Supra TT wheels: alignment ? and suspension options

Hi guys,
I just got a set of Toyota Supra TT wheels/tires (17x8 and 17x9.5) with 235/45 + 255/40 tires and will be putting them on my stock 2000 SC400. Wanted to see what they looked like before deciding on lowering the car and how much. Will need new tires maybe going up to 245/45 and 275/40.

Questions:
1) Will I need to do a realignment with the new TT wheels if the suspension is left stock?
2) If I decide to lower the car (an inch or so?), I'd like to retain most of the stock cushy ride. What spring (e.g. SupraTT/Eibach/other) and shock (e.g. SupraTT/Bilstein/KYB) combination would give me the most comfortable ride?
3) Any opinions about spacers for this set-up?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I recommend an alignment but if you're going to start lowering the car soon you might as well wait. IMO a 15mm spacer in the front is all you need for a clean factory look. As far as a comfy drop you should look into OEM MKIV TT shocks/springs and maybe MKIV TT sway bars if they're in your budget. You'll need to search into the swaybar install though, as extra parts are needed.

As far as your plans for tire sizes, the 275s in the rear look very wide and nice but if you plan on lowering the car more than an inch you'll have to do some fender modifications.

This thread might get closed due to the vast amount of info on this topic, but I have a lot of first hand experience with TT wheels on SCs so I thought I might as well throw some info out there for you. Just search either here or Google for MKIV TT wheels on an SC300 and you'll see plenty of threads from Club Lexus pop up with a lot of pictures and info. Good luck!

An alignment is needed every time you change your wheel sizes, tire sizes, or suspension. I recommend the Lance Spec alignment for best street/performance drivability, especially with the TT's

..but yes, an alignment costs bout $100 so if you're getting a new suspension soon then I might as well wait. Just dont let it go too long without one as you'll likely kill your tires.

I ran my car with Supra TT wheels at the stock height for a few months, although it's passable, it will look much better lowered 1-2". Definitely get a new alignment regardless of the lowering.

Default Shocks for SC 400 with Tanabe NF210 springs

Thanks to all who posted replies to my initial post.

I've decided on getting the Tanabe NF210 springs for my SC400 which is shod with Supra TT rims. Now trying to decide between Tokico "blues," and the KYB shocks.

Does anyone have experience or opinions regarding the Tokico v. KYB or any other shocks (e.g. Bilsteins)? My goal is to retain as much as possible the stock cushy ride. Less concerned about the drop. 1" is plenty on my daily driver.

Thanks guys!

Bilstein is in a class of their own as they are leaps and bounds better then the other options.

Seconded, but just to make sure OP knows, you will have to call in the order and ask them to shorten the shock body and rod by 1 inch if you want Bilsteins. For some reason they updated the parts and made the shocks 1 inch longer but it's still the same part number as before the update (ak1242, ak1243).

If you don't want to deal with the added expense of that and the extra waiting time, look into Koni sport shocks for the Supra JZA80.
