New Frankenstein Rear BBK for all SC's

Hi Guys! Been a little while since I posted something that improves the SC community. But today I am. This is something me & a friend have been working on for a couple of months now. I already had Stoptech ST40 bbk in the front, & Supra rears, but wanted something more. I didn't want to spend the big bucks for Stoptech rears, so we came up with this.

CTS-V Rear Brimbo calipers, with IS-F Lexus rear rotors & custom billet brackets for it all to bolt up. Enjoy the Pics...

Lol, There is 1 lesson to learn on these photos. Always mount your calipers with the bleeder screws facing up, or you will never get all the air out of the system. :egads:

Is this (the brackets) something that might be produced for purchase, and could the same be done for the fronts?

spdrcr771 12-13-14 07:18 PM

I haven't looked into doing the fronts, cause I already have my Stoptech's, but there is a post on here of a guy doing Corvette 6piston fronts with a custom bracket...

Thanks for the info and the PM. Makes sense. I've seen the other one you mentioned, but yours caught my eye for the potential of a matched kit.

I had LS400 front calipers and sold them because of lack of wheel clearance and figuring I wasn't going to change wheels any time soon, but now I've got my old front wheels back on and they've got super low offset (not stamped on the back, but I'm guessing +25, maybe as low as +10; they came with the car) and loads of clearance, so I'm back to thinking about brakes...

if you don't care about the extra couple pounds, i would recommend TT fronts, they're about the same price remanned from autozone or any other parts store as the LS brakes and are a little bigger in terms of the rotor. it's only about a centimeter but if you can go bigger for about the same price then why not. idk just a thought

came out looking really nice. the tt brakes are considerably heavier than the ls400 though something to consider.

I wonder what the likely hood is of OEM TT wheels clearing these? Probably not I'm assuming... They look great otherwise!

Your bracket looks good.
It would be great if you can produce some more for people who are interested in this.
I´m interested in one set too. :)

But there is one thing that looks a little bit scary to me:

Can the amount a material in this spot hold the extreme forced of braking?
It looks a little bit thin...
I´m not an engineer so i don´t know if it´s important or not. :)

Sorry for my bad english.

TT front rotors are a lot bigger than a centimeter over the ls400 rotors, I've got both. TT front calipers are only available new. I tried every re manufactured brake company out there. They may say they have them but they end up being the na caliper. There only $500 for the pair news though so not that bad. As far as weight they area little heavier but look a lot better I think then the LS caliper. I have TT on the rear too though so they match better. My 2 cents.

I loved the brakes when I had my CTS-V so I imagine this upgrade is great too.

I've got brackets waiting for the Z06 upgrade on my fronts, was going to go with TT rears but this might be a better solution for me.
Whats the cost of CTS-V calipers (new/used)? More or less than TT's?

GZZ-TT 12-16-14 12:56 PM

Wish someone would make a Corvette caliper conversion for front AND rear

I do understand what you are saying. When the bracket is in place, it is positioned at almost a 45 degree angle. So if you look in this pic. When the brake is applied the pulling pressure on the caliper/bolt. Puts the pressure in about this spot where there is a lot of material. Also the bolt hole is pretty tight in tolerance, so no real chance for movement which creates wear...

If you got the brackets coming for the Z06 brakes. Then, this kit is what you are gonna want to match the fronts. OMG they are amazing. I got on them pretty hard today at lunch & I was blown away at how much better they are, than my TT rears with the Stoptech fronts.

I paid a little less than this, for the ones I bought, but Ive seen the same calipers on Ebay, goin for $142ea!

This kit can be done for $750 rolling down the street. But you can do it little by little. Break pads & rotors aint goin anywhere. Its the calipers you want to pick up 1st. Get them cheep, then piece the rest together...

@spdrcr771
Okay i understand, so the bracket is good to go!

Do you plan to sell these or start a group buy maybe?
