I'm currently using a set of OEM 2006 Infiniti G35 forged (Rays) 19"x8" (30 ET) and 19"x8.5" (33 ET) rims mounted on my GS400, with 225/40/19 on front and 245/40/19 on rear.

I'm running no spacers, no fender rolling, a stock suspension, but in the future I plan to get coilovers.

Its time to replace the tires. The current rear tire size is significantly taller than the stock 235/45/17.

The best quality tires I can afford are the Achilles ATR Sport series, a model that comes highly recommended in the BMW forums.

I've read in G35 forums about the tire sizes people try, Some say the maximum safe recommended tire width for the rear 8.5" wide rim (for high performance track use) is 255/35/19, while some people use 265/35/19 or even 275/30/19 for daily driving. Most of the standard tire fitment documentation from tire manufacturers says you need to use a 9" wide rim for a 265 width tire....

I'm thinking to get 235/35/19 for the front (...because I'm guessing 245/35/19 will stick outside the fender too much.)

And either 245/35/19 or 265/30/19 for the rear rim.

Another idea would be to run 235/35/19 on all four corners.

I would run 235/35 and 265/30

or 225/40 and 255/35. But Achilles doesn't make either of these 2. But the Hankook V12 is pretty good and they make both sizes and not too exensive

Didn't he just say he chose the fat setup? As in he has the fat setup and therefore knows what he's talking about?
Nevertheless I too wouldn't pick those sizes.

I'm running the 245/35/19 on my GS 430, i would go for those. But i don't know anything about that achilles brand.

A fat tire setup would be 245/35 (25.7 OD) Front and 275/30 (25.5.OD) in the Rear. Fat setup is wider not taller. Even a 245/40 and 275/35 would be a little oversized but still more acceptable than what GS4hunnit suggested.

245/45 and 275/40 is approximately 27.7" OD which is 2" taller than factory which is SIGNIFICANT and would not only rub like crazy but would look absolutely retarded. Factory OD is 25.3" on the OEM 235/45R17 and 26.1" on the OEM 215/60R16. So that is the range you want to stay close within if possible. For those who want to close the "wheel gap" by going over sized tires, you're doing it all wrong. The only proper way to close the gap is to lower. THATS IT!

Actually it looks proper, in a sense not relating to "stance" or "flush". For such a big car, and a daily driver for the wife, "rubber band" tires will not do it. Besides, I was going for a street and muscular look to match my exhaust note and they look great on the forged G35's. As far as rubbing, a little fender rolling doesn't hurt. To each his own my friend.

I agree with Yakuza (minus some of his choices in words)... but, a 45/40-series setup is too large for a 19" and your speedo is probably off as well because of it.

I wasn't referring to "flush" or "stanced" look. I was referring to proper fitted specs in proper OD, width (based on the width of his rims) and without the need for fender modifications. The sizing you suggested is the same size a 2014 BMW 7 series uses which is WAY bigger body and much bigger fender wells.

For those who want to run wide with thicker side walls I recommend getting some staggered 17" or 18"

I agree they are oversized, beefy, plenty of meat and muscular. in addition, they don't look nowhere near "balloon" and "stupid", or whatever yakuza was saying previously. Have you never seen a car with some meat on the wheels, opposite of stretching the tire over ridiculously wide wheels? I'm glad you're so passionate about proper tire fitment, help these kids that stretch 225 wide tires on 10 inch rims as you surely know that's "not proper", but sure does look "good". Anyhow, to each their own my friend. However, those Achilles tires are really good, I them on my stock 17's and seem to be very good quality.

Listen, I'm not trying to argue. I'm just educating him the way it should be done, and make sure he doesn't get the wrong information. I actually work at a tire shop and know my rim and tire sizing inside and out, Even though I know a lot about tire stretching, at my work we do everything by the book. No stretching, no oversizing, or any micky mouse BS. The G35 wheels are 8" front and 8.5" rear . But we are not currently talking about stretching a 225 on a 10. There's a lot of reasons why people do that, but that for a different conversation.

So with that being said, since the front wheel is only 8" wheel ideally would fit a 225/40 (26.1 OD) or 235/35 (25.5 OD) 245/35 (25.8 OD) properly within PROPER spec

The rear wheel being that is only 8.5 I would recommend a 245/35 (25.8) or 255/35 (26.0) 265/30 (25.3). I would not recommend 275/30 (25.5) as they are designed for 9.0-10.0" wide rims. You probably could squeeze it on but might looks funny and handle a little sloppy.

So if you want matching sidewall height within PROPER SPECS based on your rims you have, I stand by my first suggestion...here are the combos

225/40 and 255/35
235/35 and 265/30

Ideally the 265 fits on a 9.0 or 9.5 best, but will still fit the 8.5.

The best option would have been the 225/40 and 255/35 but Achilles is not available in that combo. but oh well, gotta work with what you got. Post some pics when you're done
