I see a lot of junkyard LS400s with their rear wheels removed in the near future. (I say this quite literally, as the LS400 wheels are so hideous, I only see the fronts removed when someone wanted the calipers. Practically every other car in the yards is wheel-less.)

I suspect you're the first who ever thought to check, as hard as that may be to believe. Not many people are venturing off the beaten path in looking for parts compatibility. The ones who do are usually the hard core performance guys who don't want to share any secrets that might give them an edge.

Default Dust shield replacement

Great read on the BBK for the SC300/400.

I had a question regarding the dust shield mod for the front brakes: Has anyone tried to use the stock LS400 brake shields on the front brakes (which presumably would not require trimming to accommodate the larger rotor) rather than cutting the existing SC dust shields? How much more dust will there be if you leave the dust shields off entirely? I know one would have to remove the front hubs to do this. Is this difficult to do?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

they don’t fit. Supra dust shields do fit with a minor trim. I’ll post a photo tomorrow with supra part #. Supra shields are cheap

I was wondering if these LS400 calipers would clear my Enkei RPF1 17x9.5 w/ 18+ offset. Could anyone shed some light on this?

Also, in the initial HOWTO he says to trim off all around the dust shield, but I saw someone reply where they would cut every 2 inches and just bend it back. What's everyone's suggestion?

what year ls400 did you pull the rear calipers off of? I'm also considering going this route since they are aluminum and will shave a couple of lbs off.

I'm looking for a 17" rim to fit my SC400 following the LS400 brake upgrade. The BBS that came off no longer clear the caliper.

I'd prefer another factory rim, either from a Lexus or other major brand so I can find the rims easily. I lean towards 5 spoke or BBS snowflake styles.

Check these out..... Designed for Lexus with the smaller hub and will clear LS400 calipers (according to their configurator...

Use this to determine required rim clearance for LS400 calipers

I agree. I am contemplating this as my next upgrade and find it to be informative. I have stock 16" SC400 wheels so I think I will have to change them out too. Anyone find any different?

Zero chance they'll fit without spacers, and even then, I'm not sure the inner diameter will clear the calipers.

Default Managed to get them on

So we managed to get the ls400 brakes onto the sc400, just they werent as direct fit as we thought. We had to do some grinding but after that they fit right in. 😀

Had to grind the caliper down a little to make it fit

This the exact spot we had to grind

Looks good, you cut off the dust shield? I got my calipers a few days ago, they're on my to do list... since I'm waiting on pads and rotors.

Sadly yes, we did have to cut the dust guards. You could also just take them off but we didnt go that route
