Default TSB - RECALL on Brakes

Just an FYI

I took delivery on an obsidian is350 F Sport Awd a few weeks back. I now have approx 825 miles on the car and I started to notice a loud whine when turning. After a trip to the dealership, the "issue" was diagnosed as brake dust / heavy buildup. With that said, I was told a TSB was released and a new pad...with a new design will be installed on the car as warranty work. Just looki to pass on the good word to those F sport drivers. My pads have been ordered and will be in and installed writhing the week.

Thanks for the post. Do you know if this applies to the 250 F-Sport as well?

Are they gonna replace all is350 pads or just people who complain? And just the fronts or all four?

I really don't know. The TSB literally came out today. They said the pad is a whole new design. I'll keep everyone posted as I find out more info. Yet, replacing all the brakes does make perfect logic considering this issue. More info will follow

For what's its worth, they cleaned my brakes. Put anit-squeal compound on too. I was ten miles down the road and my car made the whine again. My parts are ordered, I'm just waiting. They said Thursday or Friday at the latest.

hmm, so it appears the whine/squeal would be the symptom then. I don't have any brake issues on my 250 AWD F-Sport. The 350 F-Sport does have different/bigger brakes which could mean the TSB/recall may only apply to this model.

Wonder if any other 250 or 350 owners can share their experiences on this topic.

Did you ask them if there was any drawbacks to the new brakes? I know on the 2IS when they issued the TSIB you could choose between the better performance/greater dust or lower performance/higher noise/low dust pads... I hated the screeching the low dust pads made when backing up...

Thank you very much for this FYI!

Have you noticed excessive break dust on your rims?

After they applied the anti-squeal grease, has the noise stopped?

Answers to the following would be great too!

Thank you for reporting this on the forum. I'll definitely keep an ear out for brake noises on my 350.

There are current ZERO TSIBs concerning brakes on the 2014 IS250 or 350..... and please dont put TSIB and RECALL in the same sentence, they are two completely different things.

Lexus called me today. My brakes are in. I mised speaking with my service advisor to address the questions above. As a whole, I will keep everyone informed. Car goes in for service Friday.

As for the moderator. This is a forum. You are not the end all be all, nor do you possess the experiences of others. I'd suggest refraining from speaking to situations that you don't know about.

I'm very confident they are installing the known "Low Dust Pads" from the base models...

Also, RTSI250 is a known Lexus Certified Tech.. If there was an LSB issued on TIS for the 2014 IS, he would know about it well before we would ..

Just saying..

Want my advice....??

Ask for part number on the replacement pads that just came in...

All F-Sports come with High Friction pads, which make more dust & noise..
