Hey guys, so I have had my BC coils on for less than a year, around 5k miles.

Ever since i had them, I had absolutely no issues at all,, since very recently, 2 major issues have occured.

All of a sudden, it started from the front left side. While driving forward (above 40mph) you can hear a constant noise that SOUNDS like rubbing, and all this time i thought it was rubbing till i removed the tire and looked into it. The sound while driving is constant, and only stops when driving under 40mph….

So i opened the tire, and first thought it was rubbing. So I raised the suspension/car it A LOT on that side. The sound never went away, and i checked and there was no rub at all.

HOWEVER, i found out that the center nut had became loose (the nut that changes and sets the preload on the suspension, the one you are not supposed to touch). I tried to tigheten it but it only made it loser, so i losened it (counter clockwise) and that made it tight in place… but the noise was still there..


IN addition to all of this, i am also getting a clunking sound on the rear passenger side. Every time i drive over a speed bump i hear a clunking sound from the rear passenger side…. RARELY and on OCCASSIONS only i will also hear this same clunking sound when driving slowly or normally without even going on a speedbump. However, I do hear it most and strongest on speed-bumps, it still does not come EVERY time you go over one, but i would say around 75% of the time it will clunk over bumps. I did not have the time yet to remove the tire and see what the issue is, but what are your thoughts on both these issues??

Its possible that it wasnt torqued to spec on install? Who did the install on ur coils? If anything give Danny @ Slammered Inc. a call hes located in Davie and does a wonderful job. He is a suspension specialist and may be able to pin point the issue. If u need a contact number lmk

I installed them myself with the help of a friend at a hobby shop with all the neccessary tools.

Weird how it was running good for 5k miles then all of a sudden this happened.

I would go to this guy in Davie but im located in Tampa, its way too far away...

Did you install the BCRs as they were right out of the box or did you set the pre-load first?

Right out the box because the vendor told me they were already set with the proper preload...

For the clunking sound, is it possible that you might need new sway bar bushings? I used to get the clunking when I had my Accord, so I upgraded the rear sway and got new bushings and the clunking went away. I'd also check the preload on each coilover, but when I received mine they were already preloaded as well.

I would jack the car up an either remove the suspected coilover or with it still installed see if u can push the coilover up with your hand
I remember seeing a video in YouTube where a guy shows that he can push the coilover with his handed ning the seals failed
