Default Supra TT 4pod brake caliper VS 95-00 LS400 4pod brake caliper, DIFFERENCE?

Ok, ive done all the searches, and all the info im getting is fragmented!

From what i gather, the calipers are essentially the same, BUT when i do a search on tirerack, they list completely different brake pads.

So here are some questions i got.

Do the Supra TT brake caliper use the same brake rotor as the LS400 brake calipers rotors?

Do the Supra TT brake calipers use the same brake pads as the LS400 brake calipers brake pads?

thanx for all your help guys. im trying to do my best to sift thru all the info, but some info is confusing.

as far as i read, i should be able to swap these in without issue.

i have front RCA's (exact motorsports) which clear the tie rod.
i will have to modify the GS brake line a bit to make it work with the new caliper.

all your help and answers are appreciated =-)

NO, TT rotors are 12.72 inches in diameter while the LS are only 12.4 inches

NO, they are different calipers...TTs are steel while the LS400 are aluminum...or something like that

ok, i managed to find this link.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-they-fit.html

seems the guy is using supra TT brake pads in the LS400 calipers. a bit of modification is involved, but seems to be the same size!

as for rotors, not tooooo big of a deal i guess. overall difference is 8mm, so worse case is i laith off 4mm.

thanx guys!

working off those calculations, that means the overal diameter difference is 8.128mm's, thus 4mm off.

i picked up the calipers off angus tonite =)

they actually feel lighter than my stock GS calipers! :O

so gonna go to the supra TT rotor and pad route, modify them a bit, and use them!

well, Ryeno is a bit of an adventurer on the DIY side just to let you know, and not all of his efforts have been fruitful.

here's an example https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ke-airbag.html

nice on the TTs, what rotors did Will include in the package? or are you just getting the calipers? are you getting the rears as well?

So you picked up the LS calipers? I remember the Supra calipers are heavy as hell so the LS would be lighter to save some weight. The LS BBK IMO looks much better..

because, have you seen the options out there for the LS400 calipers? rotors are next to nil, and pad selection is even worse.

if the size of the pads are overall the same size as the supra pads, both in length, width, and depth, then just a bit of modification should make them work.

its kinda like the axxis pads for the rotora bbk for the e46 m3. there are 2 options, both of the same size, same make, same model, just one is a hell lot more expensive.

if it meanthat all that differs is to laith off 4mm off the rotor edge, sand down to soften the new edge so its not so sharp, then it sounds completely doable.

angus didnt throw in any rotors, im gonna do that myself. have a littel faith in my own abilities since i did work in a mod shop for almost 2 years.

it was awesome too, ran into one of his co workers at the same time, a long long long long time no see mechanic. he still remembers *****ing about my old prelude when i brought it in to do the full poly urethane bushing kit. took them 4 days, but man that kit made the prelude feel and steer like butter!

I think it's awesome you're modifying brake pads from a JZA80 to fit a LS400 but what kind of hardcore pads do you need to need something only offered for a Supra??

and rotors are not only overall diameter and width. there's also how thick the middle part (I'm no expert...not sure what the exact term is here) is to have it centered to the caliper.

also, completely off topic but did you repaint your car starfire pearl????

there just isnt much for selection out there for pads. its either oem, or crappy aftermarket. i want to run hawk hps. ive ran hawk hps in my previous car, in my current GS's stock brakes, and i want to run them for the LS400 upgrade. if the pads are same size, and just a slight mod needs to made of the supra pads to make them work, then im gonna give it a try.

i know, i am worried about the thickness of the rotor, im trying to do as much research as i can to figure if they run the same thickness. worse case if the rotor doesnt sit center, you can get shims for that.

and yeah, 077, repainted in starfire white pearl. had it done over 2 years ago.
