How long do the S030 last? At almost $200 a tire it would be disheartening to learn that it lasts only 15k miles.

I am looking at compromises but it's gotta be a quiet tire.

I'm also looking at new wheels and tires to replace my 16" chrome with all-season radials. I'm thinkin maybe OEM 17s with 235/45s.

I would go with the 17" over the 16" for sure. But to get sporty look try 18" or 19" and lower your GS. You'll be very pleased with the look.

Everyone's car that has 18 or 19s look great. I'm just afraid the combination of 18s and an L-tuned suspension might make the ride harsh.

You have the same concern I have. I spoke to several different sources from Lexus dealers to L-Tuned sales rep. to Lexus car own whom have the L-Tuned package installed. The owners claim the ride is just about the same but a little STIFFER. I have 19" Zenetti Mystik wheels on order and L-Tuned shurts and spring on hand. The only thing I'm worried about is the L-tuned package only drops the GS about 1". I would prefer 1.5 drop. Check out the GS. http://www.higginbottom.com/paul/cars/gs400.htm

One thing to consider is the camber adjustment. As far as I know, there are no camber kits available for the GS so if you lower it too low the tires will probably wear more inside. How low is too low I am not sure.

Hit the search button and locate the camber topics.

Good point. There is no camber kit for GS, that's way I'm only going to drop it 1 - 1.2". Which springs do you like better, L-Tuned or Eibach?

Unfortunately, I have neither. I am researching that as well because I want to change rims so it needs to be lowered. It's probably going to be L-tuned because of what I read about it. It might not outhandle a 5 series but it's close enough.
