Damn, i must be on borrowed time, 236k miles on mine and i know they are getting to that point cause my steering feels weird and i get a weird vibration on the highway.

I am waiting for mine to come in the mail, i got low mileage used ones, but they should be better than what i have right now.,

I wanted to do the ball joints while I installed the coilovers but I may have to just do it early. I had a failed balljoint on my previous Acura, was pretty catastrophic. The car dropped while I was turning almost full lock at about 5-7 mph and ruined the fender, twisted up the axle and dug into my superleggera wheel almost completely through, plus it tore the tire tread up pretty bad. Was almost $1300 in parts alone when it could have been a $80 balljoint..

I checked the other side with a pry bar and its totally solid. No noises, no steering slop.
cannot check ball joints like that you need to raise the car lower the car while a jackstand is under control arm let the suspension compress and then check for movement. With pry bar the car on the ground or off the ground you will have no play unless the ball joint is shot.

Sorry to hi-jack.

I just checked my ball joints today, with a floor jack. I was surprised at how firm all the ball joints felt. No slop at all and all firm really firm when twisting. (Steering also). 97 with 111k miles

What shocked me was how much fore and aft movement there was on the LCA bushings! I used a screwdriver to push them back and forth and they moved almost 1/2" total! That explains why my steering wheel shakes every time I hit a bump. The bushings themselves seemed fine, no much side to side movement at all, but fore and aft?

I wonder if I can slide in some delrin disks to stop the movement? I know it sounds ghetto but I don't want to replace them with stock rubber, and I can't find poly anywhere for the 97-00 SC.
